Quiet and unspoilt by lights from local towns. Please be aware that the very long track to the farm from the road can get rutted and have some serious pot holes; but nothing that you can't get round as long as you don't try to race up and down!
Very friendly owners and staff. Book, turn up and pitch where you like and get ready to be welcomed with warm smiles and offer of a small camp fire. ECO toilets are kept very clean and DON'T SMELL and fresh water and washing up facilities are excellent for free!
Excellent site for just kicking back and letting 99% of the world go by. Only the train running in the near distance can disturb but after a day you get to use it as a clock!
Get the camp fire going around 7:30-8pm and then as it is dying down around 9:30 onwards just look to the skies and see how many satellites you can see passing overhead. The number will truly amaze you!

Went to Snelling Farm as it was near our destination for the weekend.
Pitched under a lovely shady tree. Me in a tent, OB in his caravan, Bald Tom in his little tent and Big Marc in his little tent. The latter two were on motorbikes. Their bikes remained safe and untouched during our stay.
For what we paid, the facilities were superb. Couldn’t find fault with anything. The hosts are so lovely and friendly.
Fab open space to pitch where you want. Really peaceful, even if there was the odd rumble of a tank in the woods.
Definitely heading back up there soon.

Excellent!
Everything about this site is what we wanted. Back to nature, with eco loos (very clean and well looked after) sink, water tap and even hot showers. Choice of 2 fields (late night or early sleepers) and pitch anywhere you fancy. Plenty of space between us and the next tent and the sheep.
People we met on site were really friendly, and Jo the lady in charge on our days was so friendly / helpful and knowledgeable. You can have small raised campfire, if your early enough there is space wheel drums and bricks you can use at no cost, even buy bags of wood from them. Great river a short walk away, to paddle in.
Was really nice no music was allowed too (which I thought would be a struggle). Excellent value for money, small deposit
Would recommend to all.

Just got back from a 2 night stay here while visiting the Tank Fest 2019.
What a great little find within walking distance of the museum. We arrived and just pitched up where we liked with no hassle. After about an hour the owner came round with her dog welcomed us with a smile and informed us of where things were and camp rules.
The facilities were basic with compost toilets, which I had never used before but found them clean and no smells!
The site was very clean and quiet apart from children's laughter which is nice to hear. There is a no music policy, so if you plan on having a disco this is not the place for you!
All in all a really good site and I will stay here again when in the area.

Just returned from fabulous 2 weeks at this back to basics site. Open fires, open views & wide open pitches. Hot, free showers, eco loos- but surprisingly odourless. Surrounded by forestry commission & MOD land, crisscrossed with miles & miles of bridle ways/cycle paths. Friendly & helpful site owners (& canine assistants). Within 30 mins of loads of picturesque villages, beaches, cliff top walks, NT properties & beautiful Dorset countryside. Down sides? Hmm, only cold water washing up sinks (but as it's the kids job, not too much of a down side), a car or bike is essential as it's a good mile, maybe more (?) on rough track from main road to farm, but the BIGGEST downside? It's only open for 2 months a year, July & August

Plenty of space, miles away from any main roads.
Lots of walking down farm lanes and a nearby ford for kids to paddle in and even bigger kids with 4wd's to drive through.
Lots of history in the area.
Bovington camp museum and monkey world both very close.

We stayed at Snelling Farm in July 18. 2 adults and 2 dogs stayed for 4 nights. There is no designated check in or out time so you can arrive and leave whenever suits you. We wanted a quiet and reasonably priced site and this was brilliant. You can pitch your tent however you like, wherever you like and the owner comes round in the evening to take payment and offer logs for camp fires. Camp fires are allowed on this site which is great if you are looking for the full camping experience. The loos are basic, eco friendly, long drop type toilets but they're clean and good for purpose. Showers are also basic but hot and do the job. This isn't a Camp site with fancy facilities but it's in a lovely rural location, is good value for money and you get to choose your own pitch. There 're 2 fields to choose from depending if you want a quiet, family friendly stay or a slightly louder evenings around the camp fire. The site is very close to Bovington army camp and the Tank museum. Only downside was that there are only showers in one of the fields and that if the army are training during the night, you can hear tank gunfire, which can be a bit scary. All in all, a lovely quiet site, surrounded by wildlife in a rural location which is great value for money.
