I can't start this review without saying that the staff that run this site are simply brilliant.
We were only using this site for a one-night stop over on our way to Hungary as it was about a 6 hour drive from our previous base. Unfortunately, thanks to a collision with a car in central Munich and three massive traffic jams, the journey last around 11 hours and meant we arrived well after sunset.
The reception staff did not speak any English. Thankfully I speak enough German to book a pitch over the phone. It didn't make a bit of difference to our enjoyment of the stay.
As I've mentioned already, we arrived in the dark and the gentleman that greeted us gave us a choice of pitches. The only difficulty in getting on to the pitch was that the site is obviously set up for European spec cars and caravans. Making a blind-side reverse, in the dark, on a terraced site, after a very long and tiring drive is challenging.
As somewhat seasoned tourers, we were able to set up very quickly and make use of one of the best attractions on this site. The small and yet very friendly bar. Two ice cold beers on a warm night were very welcome.
There is a small swimming pool on site just next to the reception and bar making it a great focal point for families. There are no life savers on duty at any point so keeping an eye on any children would be paramount.
The next morning we were woken by a factory siren. It was, to be fair, 9:00am on a week day.
This showed us the absolutely stunning beauty of the location. The camp site is in the shape of a horseshoe. Each terrace is high enough to give an uninterrupted view down the valley.
Hot showers are available on site although one needs 50c for each 4 minutes of hot water. Don't put more than one coin for each time period in the slot as it resets the clock back to 4 minutes rather than adding the extra time.
With hindsight, we should have stayed here longer but we were on a very tight schedule and needed to reach our next main base quickly.
I can't think of anything, other than a lack of dedicated lifeguards at the swimming pool, that would spoil a stay here.
When we go back to Austria, we will definitely stay here again.
