Great people, lovely atmosphere, but very loud. More of a party place. The security on an evening were a great comfort To calm the robustness down and did a great job.
The children had an amazing time during the day.

It was a nice and spacious campsite. The toilets could have been cleaned more because of COVID-19.
The people who owned the campsite were very quick to stop people from being loud.

Toilets were not clean and portaloos were not empty so out of use.
Nice surrounding areas.
Hosts were friendly and welcoming and provided an information leaflet.

Friendly and well kept campsite.
Sale of logs very useful.
Toilet / washing facilities very basic.
We enjoyed our time but would not recommend more that 2 nights due to lack of facilities.

As said in previous review, the site is good & there is plenty of space, the night we were there, it wasn't too busy, but the fact that there is only the one toilet meant that a queue for the toilet formed in the morning, which reinforced our decision to just stop the one night as the owner did say that they had several bookings for the following night.
Very quiet site and we didn't notice any traffic noise at all.

Billy Jeans is a large open field site a mile off the busy road minor from Billingham to Durham via Fishburm, the nearest village. There was noise from this road at night when we stayed, but not enough to be a significant issue, other than the reminder it's not as rural as it feels.
The site is a large well kept field with 30+ pitches round the edge overlooked by the owner's house. On site there are:
A room with tables, chairs, a fridge and power sockets which can probably seat 20 people comfortably.
A kitchen shed, not normally open to campers, but I assume open to groups. At the end of this is a row of three sinks for washing dishes. These are not covered by any shelter.
A very small toilet block containing one toilet and no handbasin, with directions to use the kitchen sinks. Next to this is a portaloo fitted out with an instant heat shower. This works well enough but it's a cramped space to change in and not disabled accessible, which to loo is. There is another portaloo toilet across the field. The other people on site when we visited said this had worked ok when the site was full so long as people were happy to take turns and wait for things.
Reception is a large caravan by the entry drive from which you can buy some basics like shower gel and tooth paste. (One suggestion from another site we have visited would be to open up the toilet and shower in this to supplement the others. Maybe this is done when they are busy?)
Staff very friendly and helpful. Two pop up chairs were provided without asking with the request we simply leave them when we pack up. You can rent fire pits and buy logs.
This site will appeal to people wanting a simple but clean and well run site. What is does need and I am sure the owners know this, is a bigger purpose built toilet and shower block.
Fishburn village has takeaways. I can recommend the Bangladeshi food as very good. There is also a small shop and fish and chips.
Ratings:
I cannot comment on child friendliness as teenagers are more interested in tech than a playground, but there is a huge amount of space for running about and playing.
The big snag, if the site is full, would be the very limited toilets and showers, especially as it's tents only, so most people will not have their own.
But this is compensated by friendly people who are clearly working to make it a success.
Would we stay again? Definitely yes.
