 Slightly quirky small campsite at Kermen (1. 5 miles from centre of Carantec), within easy reach of Roscoff ferry port. A quiet alternative to the large 'all facilities' site Les Mouettes in Carantec.
The facilities are generally adequate, if a bit on the basic side (notably no toilet seats on WCs - probably keeps the crowds at bay). The showers were quite good. There is a small relaxation room with sofas and a table football machine. Free wifi is available around the office area. Best of all, in July and August there was a free town bus which stopped at the roundabout (on D173) 10 minutes walk away.
Pitches are on the generous side, and roughly terraced, as the site slopes gently towards the estuary. There is a fine view and on clear days we could see the ferry docked at Roscoff in the distance. The site is run by an organic farmer, and a small amount of produce was on sale, but a little bit pricey. A sign near the entrance suggests large caravans or motorhomes are not accommodated, though the website doesn't mention this. Note that payments are in cash, and cards not accepted.
Carantec has a big Casino supermarket, bars and restaurants (most of which we didn't get to sample). At low tide you can walk to Ile Callot from the port. There is a small maritime museum in town with interesting British wartime connections.
