Can't add much to the review done in 2017 by Mitchells as the site is exactly as described.
All I would add is that the seasonals /permanents are a very friendly bunch.

We decided to stay here on our journey south to Provence, the site was recommended to us both on the forum and by other friends as an alternative to the big municipal site at Macon. What a good move!
Chatillon sur Chalaronne is not the sort of place you would normally stop at by chance, it isn't on or near a main route but it is well worth the detour.
The site is on an island in the middle of the Chalarrone river about half a mile from the centre of the town. When we were there we were one of only a handful of touring units, the majority of visitors seem to be there for the whole of the summer and quite a lot of the units were unoccupied at the time of our visit.
Pitches are a decent size, some individually hedged and other more open. There is a reasonable amount of shade which was essential when we were there.
The gate is locked from about 10pm until 7am, you are given a code to open the pedestrian gate during these times. This code also unlocks the gate to the leisure complex which was in the process of being completely rebuilt this year, I would imagine by 2016 it should be finished.
There are three facilities blocks which were spotlessly clean although quite a number of the toilets were French style.
The main building houses the office a television room and a reading room/library. Free Wi-Fi is available in this area.
There is also a large meeting room which is where, during the summer soirees are held.
The town itself is charming. There is a good selection of bars and restaurants and one of the largest French markets I have ever seen is held on a Saturday. Two supermarkets are within walking distance of the site.
We liked the place so much we made the detour to stay there on out return journey and when we are next heading in that direction we will definitely use it again.
