 A lovely site in a lovely region, with a variety of woodland walks of varying difficulty. The very friendly, helpful and professional owners provide leaflets and personal recommendations. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. We arrived just before 2pm and had a very pleasant welcome, though the office is closed over lunchtime so early arrivals would have had to wait for attention.
We camped with friends on an adjoining pitch and we're delighted to find the privilege pitches were spacious, though some other basic pitches looked rather shady. We had an ideal mixture of sun and shade and were next to a very pretty babbling brook, which was a great attraction to children, especially on very hot days. The toilet and shower facilities, slightly dated but absolutely fine, were cleaned several times a day, paper provided, and people respected this and kept the whole place clean and tidy. We never had to wait or queue for showers, which were always hot, but it is possible that another block would be a good idea in peak times.
The area has many places to explore, eg the local lakes, waterfalls, Gerardmer, and larger towns such as Munster, Colmar, Eguisheim, etc approx 1 hrs drive away. We also spotted other attractions for families and children in the ski resorts, though we weren't looking for entertainment as we were a group of six 60+ young at hearts, who thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful and unspoilt area.
A small amount of essentials and daily bread were available at the office, thought the croissants were nowhere near the best in France! Various take away food options came to the site on different evenings though we didn't sample them and there were also entertainments of differing kinds. We arrived on a Friday, disco night, which was the only really noisy evening but we were never disturbed by anyone noisy at night and everyone seemed very considerate. An excellent fortnight on a well run site. We walked to the nearest cafe one day and had excellent snacks but didn't try other local eateries though there were a few within walking distance.
