Two nights, two tents, two dads, two 13-year-old daughters - a quick getaway before school starts again. We booked very late for a bank holiday weekend, and this site was one of only a few with availability, but I think we got very lucky.
Access is good - a short gravel drive from an A-road, but road noise isn't very intrusive and the road isn't very busy through the night. The camping field is next to one of the fishing lakes. Nice and flat, very tidy. Good views of the Shropshire hills to the south, and not much light pollution for watching the stars.
No electric hookups, but the amenities block is a very short walk away if you want to use the kettle or plug something in. No microwave when we were there, one fridge. Toilet/shower rooms and kitchen need a code to enter overnight (the doors tend to be left gently closed but not locked during the day) so remember to note them somewhere.
We weren't fishing, but saw many fish being caught and all the anglers seemed satisfied (not sure about their wives and families!).
Handy shop near the end of the drive, little café above, fish and chips next door. Pubs a short drive away - we heard good things about food at The Windmill, though we didn't try it ourselves.
Good location for day trips to Wales, Long Mynd etc. We went to Carding Mill Valley near Church Stretton, which is a lovely place.

Located on the A458 between Welshpool and Shrewsbury with plenty of things to see and do locally, Powis castle, Attingham House - no excuse to be bored!
Good shops, farm shops & pubs for lunch or dinner within 3 miles.
An adjacent general store and fish and chip shop add to the convenience. A well laid out site in a lovely location by fishing lakes.
The hard standing pitches are generous- fully serviced with mains electricity (16A), water supply, grey water drainage on every pitch- separated by 2 meter high hedges. Good terrestial T. V. Reception.
The resident staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. A good shower block which could be improved by slightly better drainage & hooks to hand clothes on, in the Ladies at least.
Otherwise excellent in every respect. We will return.

It was our second visit and would go back again.
It is a very peaceful site with good facilities on site and near by.
The fishing is very good. Well stocked lakes and good pitches.
Our young grandson caught lots of fish and was even invited in a match. He was made very welcome by all the friendly fishermen.

On arrival at this site we were pleasantly surprised at the amount of work which had been taken to make improvements to both the lakes and the touring site after looking at the pictures on the website.
The pitches are large with ample room and all located fairly close to the amenities block.
The kitchen in this block has two sinks, tables and chairs and a microwave for visitors use, basic but ok. U
Sed by visiting fishermen whilst we were there who somehow didn't understand the concept of clearing up their mess! The shower block leaves a little to be desired due to the fact that once a shower has been used in the ladies it floods the whole of the room.
Most annoying if you want to use the toilet as the toilets and showers are in cubicles together and you have to roll up your trousers and wade through water to do so!
Toilets seemed to be 'mismatched' products with different toilet seats which are in need of attention as not fitted properly. The shower block is a poor design and the standard of cleanliness could be better, didn't see them cleaned in the three days we were there either.
There is a takeaway at the end of the drive which is very good and also a little shop with a post office. Didn't use any of the local pubs so can't comment on those.
Could be a very good site with a few little improvements which sadly let it down.

Pleasant stay for 9 nts. Access is a road junction off main road so no access issues even for the biggest units. Site is secured with barrier gates that are access controlled by code. Reception office and warden based on site. Roads are all gravel but are well defined and in good order. Site has a small number of cabin lodges in the first section and caravan touring in dedicated area joining on to the camping field. Facilities were very good with everything you would need for bathrooms or camping extras, all clean and modern. Reasonable phone signal and site wifi which was patchy to very good. Site is set around some very nice lakes with excellent fishing, it is operated as commercial fishery with a match lake with everything in it and a carp lake. Matches are weekly on a Sunday. Pitches are huge, flat, and more than wide enough for van, awning, and car or two. There are only about a dozen pitches in total. Pitches are fully serviced with Water, waste, power, and TV point. Great site for touring the Shropshire hills or just fishing all day if that's your thing.

Had a lovely weekend at this site. Pitches are excellent a good size with hardstanding. The lakes are beautiful and surrounding areas are well kept. There is no play area for children so is probably better suited to adults. There is no shop on site but there is a shop and fish and chip shop close to the entrance which we did not try on this occasion hopefully next time. The pub up the road Halfway House is excellent value for money and we ate there on both nights.

Had a 14 day tour and stayed at Wigmore Lakes for 4 nights. The touring field might be new but the site and lakes are well established with easy access from the main road. Driving down the drive way past one of the fishing lakes and you get a feeling that this looks a good site.
After visiting reception and been given a key fob to open the electric wooden gates to the touring field we drove over and entered the site, we found our pitch and this is where we realised that we had chosen a good site. The pitch was huge, so big that our 2 berth caravan only took up about 1/4 of the gravel pitch with lots of grass round it.
Next to the field is a brand new toilet and shower block and large room with sinks, tables and chairs. Back at reception building and you find a games room with pool table and seating all new too.
The owners and staff may be new to operating a touring and camp site but they have provided a site that puts many well established sites to shame.
If you are thinking of booking this site do not hesitate, its well run and in a beautiful setting.
