 This is a clean, tidy quiet municipal site in a good location at the edge of Cozes which is a small market town approximately 14 kms from the coast. The pitches are generous, some have 6amp and others 10amp electricity. It is easy to walk to Super you (about 400 metres) and approximately 700 metres to walk to la Grande Rue in town. (Further by car)
The sanitaires are new for 2016 and I have mixed feelings about them.
The pros: New purpose built block with modern showers, toilets, wash basins & washing up sinks.
The cons: They are open to the elements with an open truss roof which is a fantastic area for pigeons etc to congregate and perch. Where there are pigeons there is always pigeon poop – in this case that means mainly on the shower partitions and the taps and bowls on the washbasins. There are gaps under the shower/toilet partitions and as there are no external walls, leaves and debris blow under the doors. You find yourself with a shower tray full of leaves – must be a nightmare for the cleaners.
It is such a shame that someone has designed a new sanitary block without a lot of thought to the consequences of an open-air building.
Whilst we were there in June 2016, a new barrier was being fitted and reception was only open from 9am – 9. 30am plus 6. 0pm – 6. 30pm. The lady in reception has little English but is very pleasant and helpful.

This is a well kept municipal site within striking distance of the beaches at Royan, St Palais Sur Mere and smaller beaches on the Gironde estuary without the high charges of campsites on the coast. Our stay in August for 2 people, car, caravan, dog and electrics was approx 13 euros per night - ideal for anyone on a budget. The warden has limited English but reception is friendly
There is one central toilet block with preset push button showers, washing up sinks etc. The block is clean but in 2015 parts were showing signs of old age and were in need of upgrading. In 2015 there was a commercial washing machine available.
The camping ground had plenty of shade but there are some pitches which get a fair amount of sun. The site is located at the edge of town, and is very quiet with very little road noise. Just back down the road (about 300 yards) is the town supermarket. Cozes has a few shops, bars and a couple of restaurants and a market on Wednesday morning.
Campers should note that double axle caravans are not admitted. Also the reception is closed between 12. 30 and 15. 30 and there is a height barrier to stop caravans entering and leaving during that time (arrive early in the day).
There are also 6 holiday chalets available to rent
