 This municipal site is very well located to extract good value from the Marais Poitevin (Venise Verte).
With some fifty odd pitches, mostly of enormous size (we could have had a full badminton court as well as having FC/Awning, boats, bikes and car on the pitch).
The site has direct access to one of the main canals, a couple of kms to Coulon. Plus a good network of others. So you could paddle for miles on different days. A boat hire base is very close if you haven't got your own.
Of course, the area has a superlative network of cycle paths (all very flat). So between boats and bikes you get a really complete body work out.
Though the site has no catering facilities, within thirty metres of the entrance gate are a couple of bars and eateries (which did not stay open very late), with two decent restaurants at the other end of the village (about half a mile).
Within two hundred yards is a huge equestrian centre. Quite a few children go (there were two sets of young campers at the site. Group organised, but kept in a quite separate area of the site), and were very well behaved with not any noise at all (quite remarkable in fact!).
The site is shaded by huge plane trees forming a central avenue. There are some open/less shaded pitches as well.
Coulon, the capital of the VV, is a couple of kilometres up the road, but you are within easy reach of many of the quaint Marais villages and towns. Big time supermarkets and shops in Niort (half an hour), and a nearby Supermarket (5 mins) for all basic needs.
One ablutions block, modern and well kept, own paper required.
Wifi is free round the reception area.
There is a small children's play area with climbing frames, swings etc.
This is another excellent value campsite in a lovely area of France that we keep returning to.
