 We were here in late September, and as such the site was quiet. With 500 pitches quiet is almost funereal, but even so, the sanitaires which had everything were immaculate. Many of the 500 pitches are static or seaasonal, so the toilets and showers would be plentiful even in high season. Pitches are in areas of about 10 or 15 groups, all joined by a tarmac ring road. All looked to be in good condition even at the end of a wet period.
The central area houses reception, bar restaurant, indoor swimming pool with toboggan, kids play area, and kids club. There is also a small supermart on site, although there was a full blown supermart open 365 days p. A. In Callantsoog 5 mins away, and a fuel station 2 mins with diesel at €1. 4/lit
The area is near the coast, accessible via sand dunes, and den Helder for Texel is 8km. Any number of bike tracks giving access as far afield as required.
Perhaps not so well known is that though Keukenhof is famous for 'the bulb fields', this area is in fact nothing but bulb fields, it costs nothing to see them.
Though we were there in September, end of season, the staff were fantastic, as if it was the 1 st month rather than the last. We were greeted every morning by a 6ft rabbit on the back of a golf buggy every morning, even though we were probably the only tourers on site.
In the main, this would be great for the bulb field experience in spring, and equally good for famiilies with kids in high season for an active holiday.
