My and my girlfriend stayed here for 8 nights, what a superb little site. It only has six pitches and no electric hook ups. Because of the track to the site they do not allow caravans. The track also isn't kind to low lying cars.
Sat navigation has no problem finding the place.
The site is truly amazing, a great retreat from life. You have 26 acres to explore, along the way you find four friendly pigs, a Moss covered woodland and pond, a woodland with hammocks in the trees near a stream and also a fairy retreat, great for kids and big kids alike.
The hq of the place is a space where you can hide away from bad weather with sofas and books, games etc. It's also were the washing up sink is, fridge etc. It also has a microwave and kettle. The unisex showers and toilets are also here. They are the best to toilet block I've seen at a camp site, complete with actual thrones. The showers cubicles are large and the showers are strong and hot. Everything was cleaned daily and the attention to detail of how the place looks is amazing, great craftsmanship and wood work.
The tent field is slightly sloped but some of the pitches have been leveled with more to follow. There are also camping pods being built. The entrance to the field has two unisex compost loos and the water point. The site has its own fresh water supply and you can tell as it tastes amazing. Each pitch has its own fire pit and to bordered out with willow, they are about 8 meters square, loads of room and even if the site was full you still would be well away from your neighbours. In the middle of the field is a huge fire pit that's sits amongst a standing stone circle. Wood on site was cheap for your fire pit. The cat will come over and sit on your knee and enjoy the fire with you. The night sky is great with not having any light pollution.
The sites biggest asset is its location, an hour away from Bude in one direction and Exeter in the other. We used the site as a base to explore the whole of Devon and into Cornwall.
This site is ran by a small hardworking family. Always ready to stop and talk to you, share a drink and help you out with whatever requests we had. Really lovely people.
The site has glamping available, an airstream caravan, shepherds hut and gypsy caravan, all looked amazing and had their own space. Even if this site was full it would never feel crowded.
We normally don't go to the same place twice in a row, especially with a seven hour drive. But we can't wait to visit again.
It's not often I rate a place so highly, and the only reason I've not give it full marks is because of the track.
Next time we stay I hope the weather is kinder to us so we can chill out on the site more.
