Sad to report that this lovely site is now closed. I've used it for several years and found it to be a restful tranquil place. The owner was kindness personified. Thank you Derek.

Booked at last minute and spoke to lovely owner on phone. It is a small site with virtually no facilities except ehu, water and toilet cassette emptying, this is fine for us as we knew before arrival. The site is very quiet and grass was short. Access via Martinstown would have been easy but we came via the gated track.
Unlike other review we did have a good 4G signal and were able to watch Sky live.
Left payment in box as note by recycling bins requested.

We liked this site, but it may be a bit rustic for some (nettles around the bins), but it does have recycling. It does not have loos or showers, no surprise for £10 per night, but someone has left a review on the C&CC website bemoaning this fact. They should have done some research; even though it's a CS it isn't really suitable for tents, unless completely self sufficient.
It's easy to get to, via Martinstown, not along the gated road from the A354 especially if you are towing. Mind you, the 2 gates have not been closed for many a year by the look of them, but it's a single track road. Access is easy, and there are peculiar looking hardstandings and the access track which appear to be made out of 2 rows of stone blocks. We chose to go along to the far end of the field, no hardstanding here but the ground was dry. This pitch is pretty level, but the track is undulating and at least 2 other hardstandings would need chocks.
The owner is very friendly and so is his lovely dog Ash. Payment is via an honesty box.
It's in a hidden valley and seems miles from anywhere, but it's only about 2 miles from Dorchester and less than that to Tesco (directions by the bins on the site). Maiden Castle is just along the road to the right with walking opportunities.
The only problem is that there is no internet access, and poor phone and tv signals. Satellite tv is easy to get. We would certainly use this site again if in the area, it makes a useful alternative to the more expensive sites around Weymouth, which is only 6 miles away.
