Chose this site as a 3-night stopover as we wanted to take a look at nearby Mirepoix with its attractive medieval centre. Also, we visited Vals with its small church built into rock, Camon and Montsegur. The latter has the remains of a castle at the top of a rocky outcrop which is steeped in history about the Cathars. It's a 30-40 minute climb up the winding path to reach the summit, but the reward being the views. As our visit was low season, we were directed to pitches in the area near reception, which were of a generous size, surrounded by hedges. Glad of the mover to negotiate the slope into the pitch. 'Sanitaire' block was close by, which was basic, unheated, clean, but plenty of hot water for showers. Wifi was free at the hotspot around reception. For most of our stay there was just us and a Dutch couple! The site has clearly undergone investment in recent years, evident from the other pitches higher up the site which are attractively set out on terraces, with hedges, trees and stone walls. The owner was friendly, helpful and spoke English, clearly passionate about the site and its wild orchids (we dismissed one pitch as it contained a number of the blooms). Several of the facilities were not up and running, but I would imagine it to be a good site for families in the summer as it has games areas and pool. Access to the site off the main road is through village streets which might be a bit tight for large outfits, particularly if vehicles are parked or meeting traffic, but we were fine.

The most wonderful of sites!
We (2 adults and two kids under 7), spent a week here as part of a five week trip around France, and this is the site that we are all desperate to go back to.
It is small in capacity - not too many pitches, but massive in area - there is loads of space. The pitches are large and terraced up the side of a hill. There is a good range of shade and full sun and the pitches are all different so it doesn't feel like a row of tents/caravans.
The toilet/shower block is simple but clean and there is even a kids shower in a family shower room.
The playground is a range of wooden swings, slides and climbing frames and a series of wooden obstacles to cycle over. The pool is small, and was very cold when we were there after a week of rain. However, it warmed up nicely in the sun.
The whole site is absolutely beautiful and the owners are passionate about its flora and fauna. There is a guided walk around the edge of the site and surrounding countryside. The owners are friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. Every week in season there is a small market and communal barbeque - lots of fun. We greatly enjoyed buying wine and steak from local suppliers and cooking it and eating together.
The area is second to none. Close by you have the Pyreenes (we walked up the Pic du Han and the kdis got to the top of their first mountain), Cathar castles (the famous Montsegur and less famous but just as impressive (and free) Roquefixade), a lake with beach and boat hire (Lac Montbel), beautiful historic towns (Foix, Mirepoix, Carcassonne), cave paintings and associated tourist attractions (Niaux). We could easily have spent a month here (helped by the wonderful weather - sunny and between 20 and 30 degrees every day).
I simply cannot recommend this site enough!
