Why: We stayed at this site because our first choice was full.
Location: On the Eastern edge of the town of Benicassim
Check in – was in the bar. The gentleman was pleasant enough and spoke good English. He said that we could pitch anywhere on site.
Facilities
This site is a category 1 site. How or when it was awarded this category I do not know but it is one of the worst sites we have ever visited. It was certainly the worst site during this 8-week tour.
About half the site is occupied by static Spanish vans with their usual additional kitchen tents and canopies.
Cons
• The shower block was in such a poor condition that we used our own facilities. We heard another camper explain that he had just pulled a chain in the WC and the tank had fallen off the wall.
• There was a small swimming pool which looked quite pleasant.
• Bar and restaurant. We didn’t use and we did not see anyone else using it.
• The pitch surfaces are compacted clay. We were careful where we placed our chairs as there were lots of busy ants. Also, lots of flies.
• Pitches long and thin, only just wide enough for a caravan and an awning.
• Pros – a short walk to the beach.
Would we use again – no.

We stayed here with a caravan for the last week in September(2016) as part of a small rally. We were shocked to see that barely anything had changed in the 16 years since we last stayed here! There were new outer doors to the toilet blocks, green metal posts installed to hang shade cover from and a few of these had WIFI repeaters on top. It's hard to believe that this site is still rated as 1st class, it doesn't deserve it I'm afraid.

We used this site as a night halt. They advertise regularly in the CC magazine for over winter stays. Pitches seemed close together and there were a lot of permanent-looking caravans with windbreaks, awnings, sheeting etc. covering the pitches. To us the site resembled a traveller site, although there were a mix of nationalities there and some had obviously been there some time. There was no privacy on the pitches and ours felt very small. We didn't feel particularly safe and made sure that someone stayed on the pitch at all times. Good sized pool, although it was too early in the year for us to use it. Plentiful sanitary facilities, which were clean, but a bit tired. A very pretty little sea front with period buildings, although dogs are not allowed on the beach. We would not use this for more than a night halt and would probably find somewhere else another time.
