Our first trip in a rented campervan.
Site is fairly small and accessed from a quiet access road that runs along the top of the beach and up to a NT site - so there's no traffic noise and the loudest thing you'll probably hear are seagulls!
As its right at the top of Croyde beach it had a very 'surfer' vibe when we stayed and most people had boards and wetsuits hanging from their vans and tents. There's a surf school and rental place almost next door if you want some kit to join in.
It had a very friendly atmosphere and there were a couple of groups of families with lots of older kids between them, but despite a bit of noise during the day they never made any noise in the evenings and the site was quiet.
There are no specific facilities for younger kids - just the beach 2 mins walk away. The wardens were friendly and helpful if you needed them but certainly not intrusive. It was all very laid back.
Worth a big mention to Biffs Kitchen - the food truck on site and operated for Wed-Sat. Superb food and you can see the menus online for breakfast, lunch and evening meals, with great vegan dinner options every day.
Worth getting there early. There was also a wood fired pizza truck 2 mins walk down the road that looked to be doing a roaring trade of fresh pizza.
We had a great time here. Lots of people to talk with and facilities were always clean and tidy. Outdoor but covered dishwashing area might not be so great in bad weather but otherwise nothing to fault.
Fairly simple basic site but amazing location with beach views from pretty much every pitch, great walks along the coastal path right from the site and good size pitches.
We'd definitely come back except its no dogs - apparently because the beach is also no dogs, but given there is a road between the site and the beach I'm not quite sure why that would matter?
Anyway, very recommended if a beachside surf vibe is what you're looking for!

The team were very friendly and spontan. we felt we were in good hands at the campsite very well run by a pleasant young team. Especially the foodtruck perfect for hungry tired hinters.
A clean small cosy campsite.

This site has now changed its name & ownership and is now called Ocean Pitch. It has an amazing location about 300yds from the wonderful Croyde Bay beach which I am told is the surfing capital of North Devon. It is run by Ben & Louise who are so enthusiastic.
The site as about 1/2 mile from Croyde village which has a few shops, a couple of lively pubs and some eateries. All of a good quality.
The toilets are in trailers made to look like beach huts but are the best and cleanest that I have seen on any campsite with constant hot water being provided for the showers. There is also a cold water shower outside for washing off wet suits and two wash up sinks with hot water and washing liquid provided.
The reception office which is manned from 7am until late into the evening provides facilities for freezing ice packs and sells a small quantity of camping essentials that one may have forgotten together with cold drinks and chocolate bars.
On Saturday nights Ben goes round the camp site taking orders for Fish & Chips and drives to Braunton to get them.
The only down side is that the site does not offer electric hook ups.
All in all, an excellent site particularly for those wishing to enjoy the surf.

We wanted an adult weekend without ours or others kids and this place was perfect!
Facilities were basic but good, the shower block was a trailer, endless hot water. And kitted out well with a dressing area with sockets. The only slight down side, Saturday night was rammed with girls, make up, hair dryers and straighteners.
Washing up area was outside, but then if its raining youd probably eat in a pub anyway.
Ice block service, bricks for bbq and staff who are friendly and helpful.
No kids or animals on the site was perfect for us. So far from our normal camping weekends with the 4 kids!
Croyde is great, for such a small place it has everything.

Came down from London for a few days in mid-August and had an absolutely fantastic time. The campsite has an idyllic location across the road from the beach with great views over Croyde Bay and is only a short walk from Croyde itself.
The staff were absolutely fantastic and gave advice on walking routes, helped with renting equipment and were always very friendly. The facilities are very good and always spotless and whilst some of the pitches were quite close together, it still seemed very peaceful and fellow campers were all friendly in any case. Would love to visit again!

Well what a fantastic little campsite. However, the other reviews about the pitches being close to one another are very accurate. On arrival they lead us to pitch then told us to only use half the allocated pitch as it 'might get busy and they might decide to put someone else there' sure enough a couple of hours later a campervan pulled up next to our tent. That being said it's still a great campsite.
The staff are friendly and helpful, the facilities are clean and hygienic and they hire wetsuits and boards at reasonable prices from the site cabin.
If I was to criticise then I could mention the queue for the showers, especially the girls, at peak time probably around a 1/2hr wait.
I would recommend this site to a friend and I would go back!
P.S. The no kids rule works very well!

Great location and shower blocks always very clean but the pitches are very close together and there are a lot of camp site rules so make sure you read their website before you go!

This campsite came recommended by regular surfers to the area - very close to Croyde Bay (1 minute) and the toilets and showers are very clean.
Although when we arrived there was a building site next door in what used to be the quiet donkey field. The owner didn't offer any discount for being woken up at 8am every morning by the builders and we also thought it was quite expensive too and the owner a bit grumpy!
That said the position is fantastic and the fact that the showers were good and toilets immaculate more then made up for it, my kids had a whale of a time - no noise after 11pm and we had no problem with security. Good for surfers and families who are looking for a simple campsite near a great beach.

Small fun camping site in town, generally young groups, quite a few surfers, quieter than other group sites in Croyde and and not too much noise after chucking out time. Staff are brilliant, very helpful, and someone is on duty all night; site is therefore very secure; we left boards out all night with no probs. Showers are always lovely and hot and toilets always stocked, tidy and clean. 10 minute walk to Croyde Bay, shops and pubs 2 minute walk. Would definitely use again.
