 This site is idyllic. The well-equipped and cosy hostel looks like a fairy tale cottage lost in the woods. It has two large pre-erected safari tents geared for families and a small camping area in a piece of the adjoining woodland.
I found it a bit difficult to find a fully level pitch. There are picnic tables and at least one communal fire pitch. The toilets, sink and showers are not inside the hostel, but in a separate building, some way from the camping area.
There is a covered area to store cycles. There is no WiFi indoors. If you want a signal for your phone, try sitting on the bench in front of the hostel closest to the field. The site is not accessible by car, so you have to be prepared for quite a long walk from the nearest parking area through the woods along bridlepaths. I cycled
Boxhill and Westhumble and Dorking are the nearest railway stations. You need to be prepared for some off-road to reach the hostel, but nothing too arduous and it’s a relatively short distance.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Very good kitchen with proper wine glasses (!) and a cosy and comfortable lounge. You need to bring your own food.
Handy for the North Downs Way, I’d say this site is best suited to hikers and cyclists happy to travel light.
