Went here because it is the only campsite in the Palafrugell that is near the beach and wouldn't be far to carry our inflatable kayak to the water.

It is in the village of Calella and is about 5 minutes walk to a beach and the town which has plenty of cafes etc.

The site is a fair size and extends on terraces up a steep slope, with steps between the terraces and a public road which splits the site, you go under a tunnel to pass it. There are pitches at different levels and 2 toilet blocks.

The pitches are on dirt/gravel surface amongst old Cork oaks and generally well shaded. Some have sea views. They are various shapes and the trees make access interesting in a van!

There is a swimming pool, play area and bar/restaurant which closed for the season when we were there.

Staff friendly and helpful.

Plenty of mosquitoes though!

I don't really want to review Moby Dick as it is such a lovely site I want to keep it a secret but the staff are so friendly it deserves recognition.

When we visited it was very quiet but I would imagine it is full in high season. It is located on a steep hillside either side of a road with a tunnel joining the 2 sections. A lot of the lower section is taken up with seasonal vans but there are still pitches. These are nearer the restaurant and pool which were both still open in September. The upper section is terraced with flat pitches set out amongst cork oak trees. The pitches are a decent size but because of the gradient, trees and tunnel larger units may struggle. We did see decent sized motor homes though. The pitches are rustic with dirt floors but it adds to the rustic nature of the site. Like being in a country wood but right in the village with access down to the beaches. Some pitches have a sea view.

We only visited the upper toilet block which looked old but was spotless and inside, the ladies at least, was gleaming white tiles. Very hot water, toilet paper and soap. The showers are in separate cubicles accessed from outside. Large, clean and hot with good water pressure. Cannot fault the sanitary facilities.

The receptionist speaks good English nod was so friendly. She was not there when we arrived so a lovely employee without a word of English showed us all round the site to chose our pitch no communicated to just check in whenever.

Only potential negative is that the chemical toilet emptying point was a bit smelly but this could be due to heavy rain having washed silt into it. Also slight traffic noise but not tiresome.

We just loved the laid back, relaxed, friendly nasturtium of this site in a fabulous location. A rare find to have a small family run local type site rather than the giant multinational ones. We will be returning for a week next year as only left as we were on our way south.
