Have just returned from a brief visit to Tamworth where we stayed at Ashdene.
We received a call the day before to inform us that due to recent heavy rain the site was a bit wet, not flooded but definitely wet.
The toilet block was very clean but basic and was cleaned on a daily basis.
We had booked to stay for 3 nights but again due to heavy rains we were unable to remain and left after the second night, which was absolutely fine with the owner. He also gave us a discount because of the weather!
We had commented on the animals at the farm which the kids loved, looking at the sheep and spotting pigs through the hedge in the big field behind the main one.
He mentioned to us that due to swine flu he couldn't give us a tour of the farm to see all the animals that he has but if we visited on a second occasion and the 'epidemic'i s on the decline he would show us round the farm!
Will definitely be using again and would highly recommend.

I submitted a review in April 2008 (see comments) and again we ran another rally at this site on behalf of the 'Coachman Owners Club' but for a 4 nights stay this year.
The rally field was once again well presented with the farmer being extremely helpful and friendly just as before.
On the day of departure the farmer dismantled and removed the existing entrance gate replacing with a new one which will be 4 feet wider making caravan access much easier.
A well respected and dedicated farmer who has the interest at heart of fellow campers, caravanners and motorhomers alike.
We are hoping to book again for the 2010 season.

Excellent, family friendly site.
We arrived at the site at 10pm and the site owners were extremely helpful in getting us a pitch and set up. We explained to the owners that this would be our first time setting up and they offered us all their spares including a power lead to connect to the electricity. The neighbours were very welcoming offering us tea, coffee, water and a torch when we arrived and helped us uncouple the gas bottle when we left
The site is based at a farm and we were woken with a cockerel first thing, which was great, it made us all feel as if we were somewhere special and different.
The farm has a number of animals, including sheep, chickens and pigs. We even bought fresh eggs on the morning we left. The owners were rearing a young lamb when we were there and he often came over to the fence to hello to my three year old son who loved him.
The site has limited facilities and can be a bit tricky to find. However, the owners were very helpful with directions and the site is spacious and quiet, with Drayton Manor Theme Park and Thomas Land only a short drive down a lane.
This site was brilliant as it was our first time in our camper, with lovely well kept grass, beautiful views over farm fields and still had electricity, water and a toilet block if required.
Only downside is lack of showering facilities. However as we were only staying a short time it was no problem.
All in all, a top site

We marshalled a rally here adjacent to the CL site on behalf of the 'Coachman' Owners Club, the field was well kept and the owner very friendly and extremely helpful.
The fresh water points were ideally situated in the field and the elsan disposal was only a short walk away and easily located. The grass was well cut prior to our visit and the ralliers commented on what a good field it was too. It is in a good location for shops, canal side pubs, Kingsbury Water Park which is only a short distance away and local attractions such as Tamworth Ski Snowdome, Tamworth Castle, Lichfield Cathedral and the Staffordshire Regiment Museum at Whittington Barracks.
The C.O.C. Will definitely book again for 2009 due to requests of club members.

May 2005 Just 5 minutes drive away from Drayton Manor Park. Really friendly and helpful owners.
Basic facilities - loos, chemical disposal point, plus electric hookups. Site is a paddock or meadow adjacent to a small stable - the horse is let out during the day - I guess she keeps the grass down!
We had a lovely time (Mum plus 6 kids) - would recommend this site to anyone!
