We stayed for 2 nights last weekend at Percy Wood; the touring site is newer and had good pitches with plenty of space, the toilets and showers were clean and although there were only 3 in total, there was never a queue.
The site itself is tranquil and pretty; most of the units are static and tents are not allowed.
The main criticism was lack of leisure facilities, free bicycle hire was advertised but there were very few bikes, also the coffee lounge with TV closed at 6pm. There was a tennis court but no fishing on site.
This site could be improved by a the availability of a few decent bicycles, and a washing up area in the touring caravan area.

A great site nice and quiet all serviced pitches, located close to the A1 a really good price as well
I really wanted to give this site 10/10 but just a couple points let it down, firstly with the pitches being ex static van pitches the stones where you put your awning are very sharp in fact our dog cut its paw on one
The other point to let it down were the toilets - don't get me wrong they were great one of the best we have used but there is only one ladies, one gents and one disabled each has one toilet, sink and a shower for a site with 19 pitches. I think these will struggle if all full and while we were there they were not cleaned every day sometimes there were two days between cleaning.
There was a great play area for kids. The golf club house was a long walk even receptionist said it would be better to drive to it.

What a Find !. This is a well established Country Retreat in the centre of Northumberland but within 1 mile of the A1 between Newcastle and Scotlands border. Percy Wood site has hundreds of static holiday homes in well planned estates surrounded by the most glorious countryside and next to a lovely village of Swarland.
This is a well established holiday park. One of the Top Parks in the UK. So tourers will have access to all the fantastic facilities and that includes, Golf Course Club House, Walks, Tennis, Childrens pay areas etc. Walking round the site with its many lakes duck ponds and landscaped gardens you feel at one with nature.
We stayed on one of the 19 touring pitches which are open and well spaced out former Static Pitches and so twice as much space between pitches. All have own water and waste pipe. The two lines of the touring site are bathed in sunshine all day but are also surrounded by trees. At night and early morning the singing birds welcome another day.
The toilets are 3 portacabin with one shower in ladies gents and disabled. Given that the road is closed for through traffic you will have a peaceful stay.
My only worry about doing this review is that Percy Wood is going to be difficult to book onto once the secret of this lovely site gets out into the touring community. Cant wait to go back. Highly Reccommended 10 out of 10.
