Stayed here after the comparative space and slower speed of the Spanish Basque area - by contrast this is a very busy area of France.

The site itself is all-singing all-dancing - there is a snack bar / pizzeria, a shop, a games room, a large outdoor pool complex, a smaller indoor pool, a guy who visited some days to do massages, a seating area for entertainment, a boules pitch, a visiting takeaway van, multiple shower blocks, .

We couldn't complain about the site at all, it was well landscaped, well run, clean and tidy. The pitches were lacking in grass in places, but you expect that at this time of year. The pitches were of a decent size too. One of our Spanish neighbours managed to squeeze a caravan, a large awning, a large gezebo and a car on to the pitch, and then tried to get a tent on the remaining few square feet before the site authorities wagged their finger.

Before the 14th July it was great, few people about and all facilities open, however after the 14th it was bedlam, the pool area in particular was oppressive.

The site is 1km walk from the town of Bidart, which is a very nice, well-kept small town full of nice restaurants and craft shops. There is also a pelota court here (sort of Basque squash) with seating and regular games staged. There is an Intermarche 3km away on the other side of town. Right outside the site are a network of cycle paths, some of which lead to a very nice beach Plage de l'Uhabia 1. 5km away, with cycle parking.

Other nice towns nearby are pleasant St-Jean-de-Luz, the very upmarket Biarritz with a Galeries Lafayette department store, and the much more lived-in city of Bayonne. There is a huge shopping area on the way in to Bayonne - Decathlon, Intersport, FNAC, Nike, etc. 20km South of Bidart is the train of La Rhune, which ascends the mountain of the same name and is well worth a trip.

If you want longer cycling, the cycle path goes 30km along the coast from St Jean de Luz through Biarritz to Bayonne.

This is a great place, especially out of the high season, also if you have kids, we would go back certainly, but not after the 14th July.

Stayed 7 nights & paid for 6 with Acsi & good value at 17euros per night. Good access as large pull in at reception. You go & pick your own pitch & there was plenty of choice at he beginning of June. Many pitches have a hard standing area with grass at the side so good spacious pitches. The pool area was lovely & the indoor pool structure amazing! The weather wasn't so good on a few days so we spent sometime in the wonderful indoor complex. However we also had a few very hot days so then the outdoor pool was most welcoming! The shared sanitaries were spotlessly clean at all times. The bar area was nice & drinks at reasonable price. The meal we ate here was fine. You could order bread etc each morning. The staff were very friendly & English was spoken. The wifi was expensive - it was free around bar area but didn't work for me but when I purchased it then it worked ok. We couldn't really cycle in the area as main busy roads & very hilly! You did get a little bit of road noise at night. Overall a very clean tidy site which we would fully recommend.

A truly excellent campsite within walking distance of the picturesque but very small village of Bidart and beaches.

Facilities are spotless and an added bonus is the covered heated indoor leisure pool - there’s also an outdoor one with many features.

Water on the pitch has to be paid for 5eu but there are water points dotted around. Wifi is free at the bar but again has to be paid for on the rest of the site. We were here for 7 days and the price @ 22eu was ok given that it covered 2 laptops (not together) and the quality was very good.

Bus stops to St Jean, Biarritz and beyond are a short walk away and the service is hourly. Well worth a visit is Hondarrabia reached by bus to Hendaye and then a ferry across or driving.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have no hesitation in recommending this site.
