Came here with friends and we have the whole site to ourself!

It’s pitch where you want, with ample space.

No electric hook up for the van but in fairness I just used the leisure battery for a limited period.

Very peaceful and wonderful views.

Usually on wild campsites the showers and toilets are a tad basic but these are newer and very good/clean.

Will definitely stay here again,

Please note that as of September 2021 the campsite at this location is under new ownership / management. It was previously known as Otter Vale Wild Camping, but is now called Monkton Barton Wild Camping. Earlier reviews relate to the previous ownership / management.

Just returned from an amazing few days at Otter Vale. We camped in the wood which was beautiful and peaceful (except for some very noisy birds at 5. 30am 😂).

You can’t drive into the wood but the woodland pitches are very close to the field so you are able to park on the edge of the field and carry equipment in very easily. Each pitch has a fire-pit and the woodland has a lot of dead wood so no need to buy wood.

There are only 2 clean flush toilets and 2 clean spacious showers available which can cause queues in the morning. For the amount of campers on the site an extra toilet/shower block Would be helpful.

If you would like a meal out I can highly recommend The Sidmouth Arms in Upottery which is a five minute drive from the campsite.

Excellent food/service and in-house village shop to pick up a few basics! We ate out in the garden as it was a lovely evening.

This was such a magical find, only an hour from home but we had the most relaxing weekend we have had for years!

The view was stunning, and the site large enough that we couldn't hear a sound from anyone else.

Sitting by a log fire watching the most amazing sunsets, WOW! Amenities basic but clean, and just what we wanted!

Just remember this is supposed to be Wild Camping, and you won't be disappointed!

We'll definitely go back next year!

Just come back from this lovely site. My kids had an absolute ball playing in the woods and it was just what we needed as a family to reconnect in nature.

Staff are incredibly helpful, relaxed and friendly. Facilities are clean and well maintained. The produce available is first rate and it seemed a shame to have to buy anything from the local Tesco.

If you like manicured and regimented. Not for you. If you like the great outdoors and nature Otter Vale Wild Camping is right up your street.
