 This site is beside the River Main and just off the A3. It's useful as an overnight stop, and has a separate area for late arrivals/early morning departures, where you can stay hitched up. The main touring area is level, grassy, but a bit muddy after rain (there had been very heavy rain before we arrived, and the river was full. ) Pitches are not numbered or marked, and there are frequent water taps and EHU's. As in many German campsites, there are a lot of permanent caravans.
The showers and toilets are are excellent, very clean and modern, but there is a small charge for the showers. They are on the first floor of the reception block, with access via an external staircase. However, for those with mobility problems, there are wheelchair-friendly facilities on the ground floor.
The large restaurant and beer garden serve popular dishes - burgers, pizza, wurst etc - at reasonable prices, and they do takeaways. The site is ideal for boat owners as it has its own small marina and ramp. The river is quite busy with all sorts of craft, including large river cruise boats, and freight barges (which can be a bit noisy in the night!) But generally it's a quiet site with less noise from the motorway than we expected, given its proximity.
There's no shop, but fresh rolls are available in the morning. The nearest supermarket, a large Edeka, is 6km.
Perhaps not a site for a long stay, but you could certainly spend a few enjoyable days. There are plenty of things to see in the area, which has vineyards similar to the Mosel region, or it's pleasant just to sit and watch the ducks, swans and boats on the river.
