My 9yo son and I had a great 2 night stay at this semi-wild campsite. The facilities are basic - rainwater shower, a single plumbed toilet (as well as a couple of compost toilets).
There is a communal yurt with 4 picnic benches and a firepit. The price per night is reasonable for what you get.
The mostly flat ground is great for pitching a tent with good drainage and only an occ. Rock found. The campsite is next to a B road which gets quiet in the evening (or you can camp further away for complete peace).
The location is good - you have Kilsyth nearby for provisions. There are a few walks and cycle routes in the area. The Bar Hill fort and Antonine's Wall are 1 mile away.
There are activities such as archery, canoeing, climbing available to book on site (see Spotty Dog Adventures online).
Finally, there is the proprietor Scot. He is a super friendly and helpful person. The campsite is a work in progress, but Scot is investing a lot of time and energy into making this site the best it can be.
I have no hesitation recommending this place to others (just be aware that it is a semi-wild campsite).

Due to the heavy rain we pitched on the soft asphalt car park,
Scott the owner bought us bottled water just as we realized we had forgot to bring some,
The main campsite was too wet to use but our pitch was sheltered from the wind, after lighting a fire in the hut we were warm and dry,
Scott gave us directions to the local club where we enjoyed a drink with the friendly locals,
Also Scott let us park our hotel van for the week we were cycling around the area.

We found this small campsite & decided to give it a go with the family.
Facilities are basic but sufficient.
Pitches available for tents in the wooded area or out on the meadow.
Firepits available for use.
Wheelbarrow/ trolleys were available to cart the gear from the car.
The local shop is only 2 mins away in the car.
The owner (Scot) was incredibly helpful & courteous & offered exceptional hospitality. He didn't invade on our privacy, but was there for anything we may have needed. The place has a very friendly & welcoming atmosphere, whilst being very relaxed.
The weather wasn't great, wet & windy but the owner offered us additional tarpaulins for cover around a big firepit area, or the use of the communal hut with a wood burner & seating. We were warm enough at our own tent though with a nice wee fire to snuggle around.
The kids (8 & 6) had a great time with so much space to run around.
The pitch we chose to camp was quite close to a road but it didn't take away from our experience.
The campsite is partnered with an adventure company so we stayed on the next day for a family archery session which was really great. We all had a really nice time & will definitely be back soon.
This campsite is a real hidden gem in the making.
Thanks again for a great experience!
