Nice clean campsite with good facilities owner very friendly makes you feel special whilst your there. Sited at the end of the road in a lovely quaint village like a Christmas post card. I’ve been to this site three times now and love it not had a bad time here. Food and hospitality spot on

This is far and away one of the best campsites I've ever stayed at, and really epitomises a good balanced site.

The location is stunning; set at the base of the valley and with cliffs overlooking one side, Heiligenblut itself on the other with the impressive Church of St Vincent looming over the whole. It's an easy (if uphill) stroll to shops with a mix of convenience stores, restaurants, outdoors shops and the cable car service up into the mountains. It's a big village rather than a town and was always immaculate. There is a restaurant on site which does good food at a reasonable price. The nearest proper town is Lienz around 40 minutes away; whilst there are a few mini-mart type places nearby, Hofer (Aldi) in Lienz was the nearest place we found for a big stock up.

It's also at the base of the High Alpine Road which if you've driven in you're likely to have passed over. If not, it's worth the toll fee for the views.

The site seemed to attract a mix of those stopping off overnight and those staying for some time. A mix of families, hikers and bikers. The pitch sizes were generous and the general ethos considerate - even when it filled up to near capacity it didn't feel crowded.

There's a small children's playground on site within sight of most pitches; a nice little spot that my youngest enjoyed and which led to her picking up a few words of German from other kids.

The facilities are excellent. All the staples you'd expect of a decent campsite - EHU laundry room, washing room, good sized shower cubicles (free) but everything was just a bit neater, tidier and roomier than UK equivalents. The only slight negative (for some) is that wifi seemed a bit location dependent, but a 2 minute stroll brings you in range of stronger signal from other free wifi nearby. Staff on site were friendly and helpful, though we had little cause to approach them for anything. And the prices were very reasonable, I'd expect to pay a lot more in the UK for similar standards.

As long as you're happy being in the mountains there is plenty to do nearby - waterfalls, mountain shrines, cable cars up high, the Pasterze glacier and endless beautiful scenery.

I can't recommend it heartily enough because it does everything well, and despite getting busy being in summer holiday time the overall attitude of other campers - and the layout and facilities of the site - made it seem less busy than many UK sites with less visitors. It's a really relaxing place to stay.
