Well mown, fairly flat field with good access for towing. Pitches are well spaced and there is good shade as well as sunny spots.
Electric hook ups, water tap and elsan disposal site. Basic but perfectly serviceable.
Fresh eggs available from Roger the very friendly owner.
2 local pubs in walking distance across footpaths. The Poachers Pocket and Waggon and Horses. Great walking from the site, the dogs loved it.
Yes there's the odd cow pat and eau de vache but it's a dairy farm so if you don't like country smells it's not for you. The wind turbine has been decommissioned.
Extremely peaceful weekend (only 2 Van's on sunny weekend in August) and less than an hour from home so we'll be back. At £10 a night (£11. 50 with awning) it's great value for money.

Made very welcome by Roger, who has a dairy farm here with wife Veronica and two adult sons. Neat location behind a barn, lush grass, gentle slope for pitch3.
Eggs available. Will certainly return before long as a very comfortable hideaway CL. Check the OS for access as when turning off the A361, the Cranmore/Waterlip lane is far wider and much less scary than the Doulting lane to the farm.

A nice little site only a couple of miles from Shepton Mallet but feels remote. Quiet and peaceful apart from some noise from the wind turbine but that didn't bother us. Easy enough to find, but watch out for the sharp turn off the B road.
There are chickens, ducks and other domestic birds in various pens around the site which add interest.
The owner is friendly and talkative but don't bother asking him about local walks, he might direct you to a nettle filled double stile which is impossible, especially with a dog.
2 downsides - the bins need emptying more often and it's probably only possible to obtain satellite tv signal on one pitch, there is a barn and quite a few trees around the site.
The local area is lovely; we particularly enjoyed the footpaths along the Mells river with the remains of the old ironworks and beautiful woods.
The best bit- it's only £9 per night.
