A fine traditional site. All the basics in good condition. Clean toilets, adequate shower, flat ground, mix of shade and location options. Owners very friendly helpful and approachable, plus very accommodating. Nice extra touches - free fire pits, use of kettle, fridge and freezers. Would visit again.

Just returned for a very enjoyable few days stay at Mellands Farm. The campsite is clean and friendly, with no nonsense amenities - 3 toilets and 2 showers, 1 sheltered washing up sink, 1 large fridge for campers to store food and two freezers (they even supplied the labels and pen to label your food in the fridges and freezers) 1 kettle, and they also had plenty of fire pits to borrow all for free. We have 3 young children and the campsite was very safe for the kids to run around and enjoy themselves in the orchard. The owners are friendly and were very relaxed about arrival time and departure times, which was great for us as the heavens opened when we were half way though packing our tent away, they allowed us to go off to the nearby museum and return hours later once the rain had stopped to take it down. It was also considerably cheaper than other campsites we were looking at. The campsite is just outside of a small village with a village pub, however we didn't do much exploring of the village. I could not rate this campsite highly enough.

Lovely campsite in the heart of a Kent village. Plenty of space for kids games, rounders, football etc! Excellent, clean facilities! Use of fridge/freezer! Firepit and logs available. Family run, plenty of room between pitches! Local butcher in village producing local meats for BBQs and a fantastic local pub just five minutes walk away! Local shop also in the village! Fabulous orchard views and stunning sunsets! Close to Canterbury and Thanet for the beaches! Definitely recommend!

We spent a wonderful weekend at Mellands Farm, so much so that after the first night we rang our friends and told them to come join us for Sat night!
Our hosts could not help us enough - a paddling pool and hose appeared on a hot Sat afternoon for the kids! Brian and Diane were really helpful in every regard.
Walks through orchards to country pubs, kids running around in the forest and treehouse, fires on an evening (an no charge for the firepit - take note other campsites!), 15mins drive to the beach.
Highly recommended.

A fantastic find! This 12 pitch campsite had everything we needed for a 3 night break with our two young children. We borrowed a fire pit for free, and logs are available to buy cheaply. It was wonderful having a fire in the evening, we even managed to cook on it!
The campsite is charmingly rustic with a treehouse and an old orchard for the children to play in. There is a freezer and a small fridge available to store essentials in, really handy for refreezjng our ice blocks. Toilets and a surprisingly powerful gas shower were all very clean. Our children loved the chickens and were excited to eat freshly laid eggs after collecting them with Geoff.
The owners Geoff and Diane were so friendly and helpful and their local knowledge was invaluable for our day trips.
It's not far to walk to a great local pub, through picturesque orchards and the village is pretty and quaint.
We would recommend Mellands Farm wholeheartedly and will definitely be back again!

My mum, 4 yr old son and I stayed from Friday to Sunday. On first arriving we where greeted by the owners. Both very friendly and able to give a lot of information about he local area (shops and beaches etc). The campsite itself was just what we needed. Hot shower, clean toilets and even a tree house for my son. You can get a metal camp fire for free and can purchase some wood if you need or can use what is lying around. Provided as well is a fridge and freezer.
There is a lot to do on the local areas. A few shops for food and such as well as a list of beaches to visit. All within a short drive.
I would definitely stay again and recommend to others.
Thanks for a wonderful weekend.

We (family of four) had a fantastic time at Mellands Farm. The site was great, with good facilities, most notably a lovely clean toilet block!
Geoff and Diane were incredibly friendly, and our children loved running wild in the small woodland and in the treehouse. I have personally recommended the site to friends and wouldn't hesitate to do so.

I don't often leave reviews but I thought these guys deserved one :0)
We stayed during the Easter hols with our motorhome.
The site is easily accessible through A roads which is a real bonus and only a 30min bus ride away from the centre of Canterbury.
The campsite is basic but that is clearly reflected in the price and what it lacks in posh facilities it makes up for ten times over in charm, space, peace and friendly owners.
The owners were exceptionally helpful and the kids spent hours playing in the tree house and hedges.
My youngest son, who has a passion for chickens, was delighted to be allowed to help collect the eggs and feed the chickens in the morning.
The shower was basic but lovely and warm. We have stayed at many sites that have impressive shower blocks but often found the water cold! For us a warm shower is far more important than the look of it!
We loved this site and hope you find the review helpful.

Camped here for 2 nights across bank holiday weekend. As they are new it was great having availability when most other sites didn't, and we didn't need to do the min 3 nights. We had 2 whole fields to ourselves (no views). There were 2 other groups with kids in the other field. Was basic camping but we enjoyed that. Our field was near the road, but was silent at night, and only a spattering of cars in the day. It was funny hearing cyclists chatter in the morning as they cycled by. Water was through a hose and an outside washing up area. Shower was a very basic portable that we didn't use. Toilets were in a concrete block, 3 of them, well stocked with a soap and paper. All a quick walk from all pitches. There were orchards near by that we had a stroll through. Preston village was basically next door, and was cute. Think there was a pub there but we didn't visit. Wildlife zoo thing nearby as well. Easy 20min drive to the coast, & just outside of Canterbury. There was a wedding venue nearby, we could hear the music for a few hours in the afternoon, but it wasn't a bother, was a good DJ. Great site for walks. Owner jeff was kind and left us to ourselves. Wood was £5 and fire pits loaned for free.
