This site was just what we had been hoping for. A small site, very like the ones we had taken our growing family to, many years before. Very French, we conversed in a mixture of French and English.
Pitches were of a good size. The SuperU was walkable if you didn’t need to carry much and was pretty big and well stocked. The site owners are very pleasant and helpful.
We stayed for over two weeks in the end as there are many places round about to visit and we could come back to this haven of peace and tranquillity. There was a small restaurant on site which sold bread in the morning. I can’t comment on the food as we didn’t use it but there were plenty of customers.
The facilities were not great. The showers are very old and very slow but the water was hot. They were always spotless. There is a salt water pool and a small sandy beach, we didn’t use it so I can’t really comment but it didn’t look very inviting.

This is a nice peaceful little French camp site. We camped here for a few days in late June and couldn’t believe how quiet it was. The site is situated adjacent to the creek which is a great viewing spot for the sunset. If you walk along the road to St Cado (or along the sand if the tide is out), there is a café/restaurant - Les Algues Marines, which does good seafood, we had enormous bowls of mussels there. Back up the road from the campsite it is a 10 minute walk to the small town centre of Belz.
In the high Street there is a good boulanger /pattisier, and also a butcher/ deli, amongst a few other shops. There are a couple of restaurants here, although we didn’t eat in them. Just around the corner from the high street, there is a large SuperU, so for us, the location of this site was great as we didn’t need to drive off for any supplies. We also found a well sign posted footpath across country for an afternoon stroll.
The site itself is kept clean and tidy - although when we first arrived, we were alarmed to find only 2 toilets in the communal sanitation block – one of which was the French type… However, the next day they opened some toilets around the back of building which were modern, with soap and a hand drier (no loo roll – it is France after all!).
The site is laid out with pitches separated by hedges, some offering shade under trees. There is a large washing up area, a laundry room, chemical toilet disposal, and plenty of showers. There are some nice touches at this site, the owners are creative, and there are small boards dotted around the site with sayings, poems etc in both French and English, and for cooking there are pots of herbs for campers to help themselves to.
This site has a large pool which looks like it is fed from the main waterway, with a small sandy beach at one end. We didn’t fancy a swim in it, but nice to sit on the sandy beach area. Above the sanitation block there is a large games room, with a pool table, table football, a TV, sofas, and shelves of books (in French).
Overall, for us, a good location, and a good site.
