 Closed this summer :-(

I tried to book and received this reply:

'Le camping de Lescun est fermé pour travaux et ce, jusqu’à fin octobre 2018.

Cependant les itinérants du GR10 sont autorisés à bivouaquer 2 nuits maximum sur une parcelle aménagée à cet effet, à compter du 1er juin 2018 et ce, gratuitement. '

Translated as:

'The camping Lescun is closed for renovations and until end October 2018.

However roaming the GR10 are allowed to bivouac maximum 2 nights on a parcel provided for this purpose, as of June 1, 2018 and is free of charge. '

Nice site in a very remote and beautiful setting. Fantastic views of the mountains, with the sound of the mystical cows of Lescuns' cowbells ringing across the valley.

Toilet facilities are clean and adequate, single sex with plenty of cubicles. A bit old, but good hot showers, and as I said - clean!

There's a large communal area with indoor and outdoor parts and they do food and drinks for walkers. Also good Wifi and signal (important if camping with teenagers!) It's about a 20 minute walk to the village (down and up a steep valley) which has a good shop and a few bars and restaurants.

Set on the opposite side of the valley from Lescun (about a mile walk but quite steep up and down) this is probably the most beautifully located site I've ever visited.

My wife and I first visited about twenty years ago and the facilities are showing their age. The washblock etc are going to be refurbished over this winter though.

The shop has basic cold drinks including beers, chocolate, canned goods etc. Bread, croissants etc can be ordered and there's a good general stores in Lescun at which you could easily do all your food shopping though stopping at a supermarket on the way for basics and drinks would save you a fair bit of money.

There are the usual table-tennis, petanque and so on and a quiet reading/sitting area indoors if the weather turns inclement. Seating outside the Acceuil provides access to the wi-fi.

Overall the site is quite basic but pitch sizes are generous and the views and walks make everything worthwhile. People with large caravans or motorhomes may want to examine the roads up to the site before committing to a visit.
