Chassezac is still a delightful site, and even more so now, especially for families.
It has a new paddling pool, splash pool with tipping buckets, overhead sprays, and squirting animals.
There are also two flumes, one steep and one curving around.
My family saw the photos and both sons want to come with their families, one at half-term, one at the end of August, when the site is still a very reasonable 14 euros with the ACSI Card.

Like many sites in peak season this site is very different, visited by many families who come year after year. There is a much more 'crowded' feel, and the sanitary facilities, though clean, are less well 'respected' by the clientele. There is more noise, and a lot more children, so read my review, above, with care as it was written in low season when the site is a very different place.
This year, it's also suffering from a lack of rain and the trees, essential for shade, are losing their leaves early making the site look somewhat neglected and sad.

A small and friendly site, away from the crowds in the Ardeche valley, but with a lovely river (with 'beach' area and swimming), canoeing from the site in our own canoe, a smallish but heated pool (unfortunately no paddling pool), and a small children's play area. There is a small and friendly family team who run the site.
Toilet facilities are immaculate, even at the end of the season, there is a washing machine and dryer, plenty of showers, and basins in cubicles. The toilets cubicles open to the outside of the building, which is 'open plan'.
The pitches are large and flat, easy to access, and each separated by mature trees. The site is shady (essential in the thirty-odd degree temperatures we're still having in early September).
There is a small shop selling essentials, and cheap local wine. Bread on site is amongst the best we have eaten in France. Pizzas are good and reasonably priced, and theme meals are organised at weekends in peak season and are good value for money. There are shops and restaurants within a walk or short drive, a SuperU supermarket a few kilometres away, with cheap fuel, and the towns of Ruoms and Vallon Pont d'Arc are only a few minutes drive away. There is a caravan accessories place just up the road, useful if you need anything. Tariffs, especially in low season, are a very modest 14 euros for two people, car and caravan, and 3. 50 euros for electricity. The site accepts Camping Cheques, with a long season up until 15th July 2016 and again from 16th August, so possible for a family to get in a late summer holiday break at a very modest cost.
It is a very French site - with a family feel - no tour operators, but plenty of mobile homes and chalets should you not have your own tent, caravan or motorhome.
Caravan storage is a very reasonable 180 euros per year, and the site staff will tow your caravan from storage to a pitch for you to use or to take away elsewhere.
Unlike a lot of other sites in the Ardeche, you can use charcoal barbecues (with care).
There are also two lovely children's bathrooms - with low level loo, changing mat, bath (large) and low level shower - one in pink and one in blue. There is also a low level toilet for children alongside the adult toilets.
All in all a great, reasonably priced site, in a lovely area of France. Highly recommended - and apparently not yet discovered by many British or Dutch campers - we're the only ones here!
