Road traffic noise a big issue for us. While the location of the site was picturesque and the grass short I felt there could be many improvements for the price paid.
At £20 per night, (2 adults, 2 small dogs, no electric), being constantly reminded that shower tokens could be purchased for £1 for 4 minutes felt mean.
The facilities were good but a fair walk away for everyone. There was only one picnic table in the entire camping field.
The owner seemed to forget how long our stay was and reminded us twice that we needed to leave by 12 noon, even though we had another night's stay and the site was nowhere near capacity. We were quiet and our dogs very well behaved.
A good location for exploring Clun and surroundings but I'm sure there must be better /quieter/ cheaper sites in the area.

Excellent site, very peaceful with lovely views.
You can walk to the local village of Clun. It is a flat 1 mile walk but no pavements.
Is very clean and the owner very helpful.

Merrell & Andy run a lovely site here. We arrived quite late on Friday night, and Merrell called me to ask if we were OK and still coming.
We took our German Shepard dog with us, the first time he has been away! He slept outside in a crate, under our Fiamma canopy awning. Well he barked at 23:00hrs for a hour on this very quiet and tranquil river side site. We felt so guilty having not met any of our 4 caravanning neighbours. He then woke us up at 04:45 the following morning barking after being disturbed for 5 minutes. We felt so guilty! We apologised to everyone the following morning. Merrell was so forgiving!
There site is well placed with a nice walk, off road into Clun. The facilities are clean, and tidy.
The entrance to the field didn’t handle the heavy recent rainfall very well, and exiting with the caravan was difficult, however Andy rigged up his John Deere tractor and carefully pulled everyone’s unit out, when they were ready, and took them to the farm yard where we were able to hitch up without worry.
My 10 yr old son, who loves the outdoors said it was the best site he has ever visited.
There are multiple walks from the site, with breathtaking views from various locations.

A lovely site on the banks of the River Clun. Part of a working farm in the midst of the Shropshire Hills. Easy access from the 'main road' via a private drive however it could be easy to miss the direction sign on the main road so it would maybe pay to 'Streetview' it in advance.
A large grass field, pretty much level and only 5 pitches (all EHU) so plenty of room and very quiet despite the road being not too far away on the other side of the river.
Two combined shower/loos, immaculately clean and plenty of hot water - showers work on £1 token - a laundry room - easy access to waste/elsan disposal. Site owner helpful on arrival and certainly not intrusive thereafter (which is how we like it).
Clun is a very pleasant 40 minutes walk (some steeper stretches) around the hill at the rear of the campsite. It's quicker along the road however there's no footpath so some care needed. Historic Clun castle (a ruin) is free to access and Clun church looks even older although it probably isn't (and it's certainly not a ruin!) but we didn't visit because of the Covid 19 restrictions in place.
Clun also has pubs/cafes, some shops including a general store. And a brewery! However not all were open when we visited due to Covid restrictions but all looked inviting. Bishops castle (10/15 minutes by car) is equally historic although a larger place and so has more pubs/ shops/ fuel and also boasts a brewery (a 17C one this time).
Craven Arms is 10 minutes in the car and more of a work-a-day town for shops/fuel etc. And is also home to the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre - a good source of local tourist info. Attractive looking pubs in nearby Clunton and Purslow although we didn't visit (Covid again).
Hurst Mill farm is an ideal site for walking this part of the Shropshire Hills. Or you can just sit outside your unit, laze by the river and admire the wonderful scenery.

A beautiful location within walking distance of Clun and Clunton.
Nice quiet field with a river running through it.
The toilet block was absolutely spotless and as it's a quiet site it was never busy. The owner was friendly and helpful.
South Shropshire is a great base for walking and cycling.

Loved this site. Had a fabulous three nights here and could of easily stayed longer.
A peaceful site with pitches by the river where we watched kingfishers and dippers whilst relaxing by our van. Great facilities.
Clean en-suite shower rooms (tokens), pot wash, washer and dryer. The area is beautiful.
Great walking, lots of wildlife. Fabulous!

Just spent a wonderful week at this perfect little site. Beautiful grass pitch right next to the river. One of only 5 pitches. 2 en-suite bathrooms on site with potwash area and a washer and dryer. Perfect setting.
Beautiful surroundings. £1 token needed for 5 mins hot shower. Brilliant base for touring Shropshire or just walking. Can't praise this site enough.
Loved it and loved Shropshire.

A well kept site, very friendly and helpful owners. An excellent paddling river, although when we were there it rained quite a lot. Clun and surrounding area is lovely and well worth exploring.
I think we were lucky on Pitch 5 as we were able to get on the internet. Shower rooms were regularly cleaned. Had to be careful where we walked as there were sheep on site.
Would definitely stay there again when next in the area.

This is a lovely scenic site. 5 large grass pitches with hook up & plenty of space for tents along the banks of the River Clun. You are allowed to have a paddle in the river, which was no more than knee deep while we were there (not fenced off so watch children).
The grass on the site is kept short & off the ground barbies are allowed. There is a road behind the river, about 50 metres way, but there was very little traffic on it. Lovely views of wooded hills all around. The site is reached via a sharp left turn across a cattle grid so may not be suitable for very large outfits-it would be best to check with the friendly owners.
Clun is a great village with two thriving olde-worlde pubs, one of which serves great food. It is a 20 minute walk by road, but there are no verges in places. We took high visibility jackets to be on the safe side.
There is also a 40 minute walk through the woods and along farm tracks to Clun, but neither route is suitable for pushchairs. However there is plenty of free parking in Clun at the memorial hall. We couldn't use either wifi or roaming data at the site - or in most of Clun.
There are some excellent walks all around the area & the owners will lend you their book of local walks. There are two well kept showers, but you need to buy £1 token for 6 mins. There is a toilet in each shower, which would mean queues when the site is full & both showers are in use. There are facilities for pot washing, laundry& recycling.
We thought this was one of the prettiest sites we have stayed on & we would definitely go again.
