Reviewers - mature couple with campervan and bikes.
We needed somewhere to stay for the night in this area, the town was noted as interesting, so we decided to stay at the campsite. We followed the directions from the Guide Officiel, the site is not as near to the town as we had hoped, and is situated on a hillside.
The receptionist was friendly and booked us in quickly, allocating a pitch, and showing on a wall map how to find it. We drove round searching, struggling to find the pitch numbers. The pitches were flat, stoney, and divided into pairs by stone walls, trees or hedges. Lots of tall trees for shade. There were water taps and cold water sinks between some of the pitches, though the nearest sink to us wasn't in a particularly good condition.
Bearing in mind how quiet it was, the pitch was a long way away from the only sanitary block, it was a bit of a trek, and too hilly to comfortably use the bikes. Half of the sanitary block was closed, so we all shared the one half. It was quite modern and very clean, the cleaner was there in the morning.
There is a swimming pool, restaurant and club, the restaurant said it was closed, and so was the swimming pool, which was a disappointment. The restaurant appears to be accessible to the general public, there is a rough road to it that bypasses the campsite. There is also an area of caravan storage, plus statics and cabins on the site. There's a games area opposite the pool.
I did complain to the receptionist about the pool being closed, she said it had closed on 31st August, but hadn't told me any of this when I checked in.
It was too hot to cycle into the town, so we drove in the next morning and cycled round. The Cathedral is lovely, also the old centre around it, and worth a visit.
This was the most expensive site we used this holiday, and not good value for money at all for the facilities on offer, which were none.
