We stayed for seven nights at Camping Molignon in August 2018.
The campsite is excellent and in a stunning location. It is situated at the side of the river just south of the village of Les Hauderes - between Evolene and Arolla. The campsite is set in a series of terraces and the individual sites are broken up in places by hedges and trees. The ground pretty much all level and easy to peg into, at least when we were there.
We paid a small deposit up front before we left (booking is essential) and then the balance on leaving. We were welcomed at Reception when we arrived and given a map showing our location on the site and how to drive to it. Other than that, we were left to our own devices (in a good way) and not inundated with rules or restrictions. We popped into Reception a couple of times and they were always friendly and helpful with a good understanding of English.
There were not restrictions in terms of what direction you pitched or where your car had to go so we had two tents (went with another family) facing each other on adjacent plots. The majority of plots have electric hook up and a tap.
The toilet and shower facilities were amongst the cleanest I have ever seen - at all times of day and night. Plenty of both, segregated. A large row of covered washing up sinks were also available outside.
There is a heated and covered (when required) swimming pool which was a big hit with the kids plus a small but well kept play area and table tennis.
The campsite is surrounded on all sides by glorious mountains. Everywhere you look there's a stunning view. There are so many walks and paths to follow you couldn't possibly exhaust them all on one holiday and most of them were worth repeating. We went up to Lac Bleu at Arolla, the Glacier Mont-Mine near La Forclaz and the Grande Dixence Dam in the next valley along and all of these places were breathtaking. It truly is an amazing country for scenery and being outdoors.
We didn't try the restaurant as we preferred to cook, partly due ot the prices in Switzerland. The campsite restaurant itself was reasonable by local standards but prices for eating and drinking in Switzerland are eye-wateringly high but we knew that before we went so planned accordingly. There's a very useful Co-op in Evolene (2 miles), a small but well stocked supermarket in Les Hauderes (1/2 Mile) and an Aldi in Sion (about 15/20 miles and 3000 ft downhill). It pays to compare prices in the supermarkets because some (non-sale) items were surprisingly cheaper than others - this didn't appear to be based on quality/brand either. Never did get to the bottom of that. Meat is especially expensive - £11/12 for two chicken breasts!
The campsite was pretty quiet (noise-wise) despite being very busy. There was almost no noise in the evenings after say 9pm - only the sound of the river running down the valley nearby.
The weather was pretty good during our stay - it ranged between high teens and 30* during the day and the nights between say 9-15*. The nights could feel quite chilly but at nearly 5, 000 ft up that's no surprise. Many weather forecasts were useless and the one that seemed most accurate was the standard iPhone weather app.
There is free wifi on the site - not the quickest but not dial-up speeds by any stretch!
Overall, I really couldn't rate the campsite higher - we absolutely loved it. I would definitely go back and recommend it to anyone who who wants a friendly and well cared for campsite in amazing mountain surroundings.
