Out of season there are usually pitches on the dunes overlooking the sea but you need to have the guts to risk the possibility of grounding as the sand is very soft.
We didn't park there but we were close to the access to the beach.
The site is sprawling so there can be quite a walk to the facilities but the showers are hot and clean. No toilet seats or paper. Much of the site was closed at 1 October so no restaurant or shop and reduced facilities.
No wifi (unless you pay for it). We stood outside the tourist info centre ( 5 mins walk) to get fast wifi.
The site is close to the port with some good restaurants - we enjoyed the Galettes at Sucre/ Sable across the road.
Sandy pitches so be prepared for messy motor homes!

Spent the 1st 3 nights of September here, and would have liked to stay longer. It was definitely out-of-season as it was very uncrowded. Fellow campers were almost all French or Dutch.
The great location more than compensated for the uninviting loos (no seats or paper is pretty standard here, but these felt particularly grim). Showers & washing-up facilities were fine. Motorhomes & caravans would have the advantage of on-board facilities, but wouldn't be able to reach the best pitches - on the seaward side of the site, separated from a narrow sandy beach by a strip of marram grass, & with lovely views. The rest of this long, narrow site was lightly shaded. The sea sloped steeply on our part of the beach so not ideal for small children, but may be gentler further along.
The site is next to a lovely little marina with tourist shops and restaurants. It's a longer walk / short bike ride to the centre of St Denis, an attractive little place with mini market, greengrocer's, bakeries etc. We stumbled upon a quirky street festival with food & live music on 1st Sept.
The Ile d'Oleron is covered with flat cycle paths through forests, villages and salt marshes. We cycled easily to the lighthouse at the Northern tip of the island, and a beach on the other side.
