This is a well placed site just off the motorway yet there is very little road noise. The site is secure with a barrier which is a bonus.
The pitches are well laid out a nice mix of hard standing and grass with electric hook ups, water points chemical disposal and rubbish bins
The facilities are simple but clean and well maintained. The two toilets are heated at night.
There is a trout lake for fishing which also makes for a nice walk and plenty of bird life to view.
There is also a cafe on site whic is open from 9. 00 until 4. 00 but not every day. A bacon sandwich at breakfast time is a nice treat and the cakes are tempting. My only criticism is that the showers are part of the toilet facilities for the cafe and cannot be used for showers after 9. 00 when the cafe is open.
If you book a pitch go the site directly rather than Lake District website as its cheaper

Reviewers: 2 seniors with dog and caravan.
This is a lovely little site, just off J36 of the M6. It also has a tearoom, fishing lake and a small nursery. It has 5 or 6 touring pitches in a separate area from about 30 seasonal pitches and has 16 amp electric hookups to each pitch, with showers and toilets. The touring pitches are semi-hardstanding - hardcore/flags for your wheels to go on with grass to the side for an awning, so the best of both worlds.
Despite some background road noise, the site is quiet and peaceful, in open countryside with views over the fields and fishing lakes. The owners are very friendly and accommodating and it is a pleasant walk around the fishing lakes (though take your wellies!). The tearoom is often busy with visitors but this does not impact on the site and the bacon butties and homemade cakes are so tempting!
The only slight disadvantage is that if you want to arrive on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday when the tearoom is closed, you need to phone in advance so there'll be someone there to meet you (the owners live at the farm just across the way) to unlock the entrance gates and the height barrier - you are given a key to the gates while on site. The approach road is narrow for a couple of hundred yards initially but then opens out with good visibility.
There are no specific facilities for children and the nearest shops are a short drive away. Dogs are welcome with well-behaved owners!
We highly recommend this site to anyone who wants a small, friendly, peaceful site with decent facilities.
