 4th visit, but under new ownership this year and also in the particularly testing circumstances of the Covid. 19 pandemic. Test passed with flying colours.
This is just a wonderful place - but we knew that already. Having been each year since the site opened under its original owners (who we loved), we had high expectations to be met - but also a realistic appreciation that the new owners had only been in place for a few short weeks and even without the lack of bedding-in time would be opening in extraordinarily difficult circumstances.
If we were prepared to be generous in lowering our expectations, we weren’t prepared for the generosity of the new owners, Jo and Kev, in exceeding those expectations (and more) at every turn! I can’t imagine there’s a pairing better suited to the role - engaged and engaging at all times. As happy to share their views and thoughts on the site as to seek and carefully listen to ours. Just spot on.
The site itself is a real nature haven - quiet and unspoilt. Facilities are basic in all the best ways and although the spread-out nature of the few pitches over two large meadows lends itself naturally to the social-distancing required this year, much thought had clearly still gone into making sure the experience could be both as safe and as sociable as possible.
Coastal and hill walks as well as beaches are all within easy driving distance. Shops and pub are a short walk away in the local village, although when you’re on the site you could be forgiven for thinking the outside world is rather further away than that.
We will, of course, be back!
