We stayed here to be close to the Dutch coastline and to have easy access into Amsterdam. We had both of these. Lovely sandy beach that goes on for miles. Train just 25 min into Amsterdam and at leat two an hour - cost €11 return. Zandvoort itself is a bit of a strange place in that it is a mix of different things. You've got the beach resort side of it with lots of privately owned huts right on the beach and lots of beach cafes and restaurants. Then there's a lovely national park to the north with miles of cycle and walking paths. Then there's the race circuit which is right next to the campsite - this did prove noisy with motorbike test days going on starting at 9am. The centre of Zandvoort is a collection of small streets off a roundabout with a good mix of cafes and restaurants. However the campsite itself is a disappointment. We booked with out being able to read any reviews as there weren't any and just looked at their website. It says 'luxury' pitches. Yes we had EHU at 16A and a water standpipe but the site was like a piece of waste land tagged onto a rather rundown static park. Toilet block was clean but showers cost extra as did the hot water to wash the pots! The terrain was broken shells/shingle and the pitches were small. It did feel rather like parking at a circuit (which I have done many a time but not at €43 a night). All other tourers were either German or Dutch and although people were pleasant enough I didn't like it!
Very handy for the beach and some good cycling but the site was a let down. No shop or anything on site. Reception lady was nice.
