My husband and I camped at Glasfryn Escapes for 8 nights in September. We camp all over the UK several times a year and I can honestly say that this is one of the best sites we have stayed at.
We chose a pitch in the 'meadow' field and were lucky to have the entire field to ourselves. The field is huge and has very large mown areas amongst the long grass to pitch the tent.
They have 5 pitches in this field. Each pitch includes a camp fire and picnic table and the views over the bay are stunning.
The toilet and shower facilities were absolutely spotless and self contained ensuites.
The owners allocated a unit to us for our entire stay which we loved and the shower had plentiful hot water. Not a spider in sight too (I'm an arachnophobic)
They also provide a fridge freezer which was perfect for storing food in the hot weather, and a treat too as so many sites don't offer them.
Fishguard is a stunning little place with a cute harbour and all the amenities you would need. Popty cafe serve the best breakfasts, so good that we went twice and had to restrict ourselves from going more often! The fish and chips at Hooked were great too.
Finally, the owners will do anything to help and are so friendly. We enjoyed our daily catch ups putting the world to rights.
We really had an amazing time at this stunning campsite.

This is a lovely little campsite and I'm sure will become popular as word spreads. True, it isn't cheap at £14 per person for the camping field, but it's not exceptionally expensive either compared to some of the other sites we considered. Overall worth the price I think:
Location on top of the hill means beautiful sea views. If you pick the tent pitch at the top of the field on the east side you would also have a view of the sunsets - almost made us want to swap to that pitch. The location does mean it's quite a steep walk up from town, but if we didn't like walking uphill we wouldn't be in Wales, right?
This site is accessible by public transport via the train station at Fishguard and Goodwick two miles away. It took us about an hour to amble to the campsite from the station, stopping briefly in town. You could also take a bus to Fishguard town centre (halfway to campsite) or take a taxi.
There are only five camping pitches in a large, gently sloping field. The pitches are marked by mowed areas and paths in between while the rest of the field is left unmowed. There is plenty of space in between the pitches and no chance of someone unexpectedly choosing to pitch right next to you! We walked past some very crowded campsites in Fishguard and Newport with barely a metre in between the units and felt very lucky to have picked Glasfryn instead.
The utilities are new and kept spotlessly clean. The showers are hot and it's great to have a washing up station and a fridge/freezer available as well as charging sockets for phones etc. An electric kettle would be a welcome addition to this little space.
Best thing of course - campfires allowed! There are movable off-the-ground fire pits around the site and good dry firewood for sale at the garden centre (to which the campsite is attached) for £5. 70 per bag.
Fishguard town was quiet even though it was August, no hordes of tourists here. But the town has everything you need: a well stocked Co-op supermarket, nice pubs, cafes (Mannings was our favourite), a weekly food market and farmers' market, a fish and chip shop which also sells excellent ice cream, and it's right on the Coastal path with shuttle bus connections to further along the path in both directions (as well as good regular bus connections to nearby towns). You can also do paddleboarding or kayaking from the Lower Town harbour.
If you are there on a Friday or Saturday evening don't miss Gareth's Celtic Crust vegan pizza van by the garden centre. The Celtic Crust Special is phenomenal! Even for non-vegans like me.
Not a mosquito in sight either, so apart from a few wasps (which seem to be everywhere this year) we had a very peaceful stay. When the wind is calm you can hear a bit of road noise from the A40 in the distance. Also some noise can be heard from the loading and offloading of the ferry at Goodwick. But most of the time you don't even notice it.
One suggestion I would make is that it would be nice of the site to encourage camping without a car, for example by offering a discount to those arriving on foot, like some other sites do. The site is part of the Greener Camping Club (which you have to join on booking if not already a member) and surely the one thing that makes the biggest difference in making camping greener is not driving?
Anyway in conclusion I recommend this site if you enjoy simple camping with good basic facilities and want a peaceful, secluded space away from the holidaying crowds.

Before reading any further are you prepared to spend £32 per night for a couple and unit with electricity. If you are still with me I will describe the site. The electric pitches are on a very sloping pitch. One of which is hardstanding. There are two redeeming features for this site which may make it worthwhile for you One is the view from your pitch overlooking Fishguard Harbour this is outstanding in good weather. Two is the shower and toilet block which at time of writing is almost brand new. I can't speak for the tent field which allow open fires and could be fun for the kids which are charged £8 extra although there is a family price of £35 2adults +2kids per night. Will we return? love to, but sorry cant afford it.
