Reviewing yet again, but little has changed apart from the completion (2 years ago) of a beautiful covered pool.
Large pitches and well maintained.
More cabins in place than before, but that’s how site owners make bigger money.
I’ve listed 4 nights but that may finish up as 7 if the weather holds.
Large play area for kids beside the pool with bouncy castle - free.
Good free wifi covering the whole site.
Great site if you are travelling via this area. Deserves more UKCS visits ( and reviews - it only takes a few minutes)

An updated review from us too!
Importantly, the site does not close until 11th October this year, not early September as on the site details.
The toilets do indeed have seats and toilet paper (outside the cubicles) and the water in the showers is nice and hot.
The pitch we are on this time has the European type power connection, unlike last time, so maybe it is only the pitches in that one part of the site that require a French style adapter.
It is obviously very quiet at this time of year with no entertainment, snack-bar etc, but still has a nice feel about it and the owners are in evidence around the site - it doesn’t feel like it’s about to close for the season.
They also take the ACSI and CampingKey Europe cards so out of season it costs 16 euros a night (with 7 nights for the price of 6).
This is an excellent site with friendly, helpful, hard-working owners, and my previous comments still stand. It’s just a shame not more UKCampsite members have yet sampled its delights (or at least not posted a review).

Submitting another review to update things. Very friendly owners who told us in strictest confidence that they are constructing a new covered pool on the site for next year. Nothing wrong with existing pool which was very warm (in May!) except it’s across a fairly quiet road.
Good kids play area with bouncy castle.
This site just keeps getting better. Happy to recommend.

Excellent site. And very good previous review which is difficult to enhance other than to point out that the loos do have seats.
€15 with ACSI in low season. No charge for good wifi.
Satellite reception from loads of pitches
There’s a most excellent restaurant, just across the river,
It is not walking distance but I guarantee there is not a better one in the region. Check it out on trip advisor.

This site is right by the river Loire in the small town of Montjean sur Loire, between Angers (35kms) and Nantes (65kms) in the less busy western part of the Loire valley, described in the publicity materials as Une Autre Loire. Arriving in Montjean across the Loire on the D751, turn immediately right as you come over the bridge (signposted) and then turn down to the left as you leave the town (very sharp turn - a bit of a surprise when you're not expecting it!) at the sign for the campsite, and pull up at the barrier a little further on.
It has level, grass pitches for tents, caravans and motor homes, some privately owned statics (modern and well maintained, mostly in one area), and some statics, safari tents and similar for rent. The plentiful electric hook ups are 10amp but you will need a continental adapter (2 pin), and there is generally a water point per 4 pitches, with 4 separate taps. Some pitches have hedges on 3 sides, with strategically placed trees to provide some shade, while others are more open and the trees have been cut back. Pitch size varies but most are plenty big enough for caravan, awning and car. Free wifi is provided across the whole site, though you have to sign in again every few hours.
The facilities block is recently built with clean, modern toilets (no seats, paper provided outside) and showers (roomy, push button, plenty of hot water, no shoes in the cubicles), both unisex, and with dishwashing and laundry sinks, a washing machine and dryer. There is a brand new building which will be for a small bar, snacks and kids club/low-key evening entertainment during July and August and a small swimming and paddling pool just across from the site entrance, as well as a children's play area and boules pitches.
The friendly and helpful young couple who own the site are working hard to develop it and also offer canoeing and boat trips on the Loire.
The little town has an excellent bakery a 10 min walk from the site (the campsite has a bread service in July and August), a Carrefour Contact supermarket, several bars and restaurants and offers a Loire discovery centre (Cap Loire) and various marked walking / cycling routes and a sculpture trail, as well as being on the Loire a velo route.
We were one of a handful of units on the site just after Easter and it was obviously extremely quiet at all times, just birdsong and the occasional sound of traffic in the distance, but we also felt very safe. We were lucky to have good weather and enjoyed visiting this less busy part of the Loire, especially the excellent walking and cycling right by the river and the little towns and villages.
