Date of Visit: August 2023 Unit:  Tent
Nights stayed: 4 Travelling as:  Family with young children

We stayed in one of the campsites brand new glamping tents. This cost £520 for a four night stay.

The tent was lovely but certain important amenities that were promised were not included.

The amenities not included were enough bed linen for all three beds, a microwave and toaster.

Other items that would be reasonably expected such as a net to clean insects out of the private hot tub were not included.

After asking for these issues to be resolved we were subject to an intimidating conversation where we were told we were "moaning" and that the owners had never experienced guests like us before. I asked if this behaviour could stop or I would potentially be seeking a refund.

Unfortunately due to this we were asked to leave after only one night, meaning we had to drive for three hours home with a small child unexpectedly and miss out on the rest of our holiday. When I asked for a reason as to why we were asked to leave I was told it was due to me commenting that I would potentially want a refund if matters were not resolved.

The company is now refusing to refund us for the rest of our stay that we missed out on after we were asked to leave.

We are in absolute shock and have never experienced anything like this. Customer service is a foreign concept to this business, if you acknowledge any faults or misleading advertising you will be kicked out with no refund.

We had a lovely stay here at Easter. The site is beautiful and very well maintained. The facilities are very good. The toilets and showers are very well looked after. The couple who run the place are very friendly and could not be more helpful. There are even fresh eggs and fire pits around for a small fee. They have a barn structure that is used for training horses with dressage. If there are no horses around they are happy for you to take your dogs in there and let them off. There are even safari tents on site should you have friends who don't camp.

There is lots to do in this area. We popped over to Goathland, which is where Heartbeat was filmed and the train station there was used in Harry Potter films. I can recommend a trip to Eden Camp as well, very thought provoking war museum.

You can get everything you need from Pickering which is a 5 minute drive from the camp site. The journey there is fine, no worries if you are towing.

A really lovely place, run by really lovely people. We will definitely be back.
