 We had a fabulous time at this campsite. It's in such a unique area, the Ardeche River is just beginning here. There are waterfalls falling over beautiful rocks, making natural swimming pools where you can jump in and swim in the crystal clear water. There are so many places to swim.
The cigales make a beautiful noise throughout the campsite and the mature trees provide lovely shade from the sun. There are lots of walks from the campsite. When you return from your walk, there is cold draft beer on tap to buy from reception and also pizzas for sale.
There was a good mix of nationalities there, French, Dutch, German, UK and Southern Ireland (us). There were quite a few owner occuped static caravans, normally we wouldn't favour this arrangement as we feel that it takes from the touring campsite atmosphere. However, the static owners were very friendly and the daily boules tournaments were open to all, and seemed to be enjoyed by all.
Theyts is nearby and is a lovely village to visit and the swimming in the river under the beautiful Pont de Diablo is a real highlight. The owners are exceptionally nice people, who take the time to get to know all of their customers, and they provide information on the local area and also organise kayak day trips on the Ardeche.
There was an evening Market on when we were there, local producers came to the campsite to sell their products and there was music provided by a man with his guitar. We bought a pizza and a cold beer and enjoyed the atmosphere.
Thus is a very special campsite due to its location near the source of the Ardeche and we would highly recommend it.
The campsite became full while we were there at the end of July/ beginning of August and so it would be advisable to book if you want to come during this time.

We discovered this treasure by complete chance, after a long day's drive across the Massif Central, heading down towards the Ardeche Gorges at the very top of Provence.
Watch out for a smallish sign as you head downhill towards the Rhone valley, turn sharp right and follow a narrow (but perfectly do-able) lane for about 1 km. The site is on the riverbank, at the bottom of a small valley, set amongst beautiful wooded hills. It's a shady site with several great riverbank pitches (and none that are far from the river). At this point the Ardeche is still quite small and runs across several rocky basins that provide perfect and safe swimming. Idyllic!
Though it's a small site, the facilities are excellent and are in the process of fairly extensive renovation. There's a shop/bar selling all the necessities, and a lounge, all in a building with suitably rural ambience. The owner has only been running the site for a year or so and is very welcoming and helpful. He also speaks very good English, which he's keen to practice!
After several very hot days elsewhere the site's location at about 1800 feet meant pleasant sunshine and warmth in the day and comfortable, cool nights.
We cannot recommend it highly enough.
