We arrived at this site after deciding against our original choice and are pleased we did. The site itself is on the main road through the town but road noise wasn't apparent and it was quiet at night (windows open).
Staff at Reception were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English if needed. We were required to leave a 10E refundable deposit on the plastic barrier 'key' for trips out.
The WIFI was free and reliable.
The touring area which was very quiet when we were there, was very clean and tidy and the grass was well kept. There are large hedged pitches, some with good shade. Electric points were shared by four (on our pitch) and the water taps were dotted around. The toilets and showers were found to be clean at all times and there are ample washing up sinks. There are laundry facilities (payable). Rubbish bins and recycling is near the barrier.
The pool areas (outdoor and indoor) were clean and tidy, there is a water slide and children's water playthings (they tip, spray and jump water about!), some straw type umbrellas for shade and clean sun beds. There is also a Jacuzzi, gym room and sauna. There are a range of events available over the summer season and a free kids club daily in July/August except Sunday (taken from brochure). There is an outdoor netted games area and boules courts, along with a children's play area which looked well cared for.
There is an on site bar/snack bar, which was not open at the time of our visit, but we did eat at a small restaurant about 100yds from the rear entrance of the site, which was very reasonable and the staff were very friendly and they do a daily 'plat' at a good price and was used by 'locals' always a good sign.
The site is situated a short distance from the town, about 10 minutes walk, passing the Tourist Office and an excellent large boulangerie on the way which seemed to be open all day. There is a Super you with fuel and smaller shops, bars, pharmacy, restaurants and on Sunday and Thursday a large mixed market which was very busy. It is an easy cycle or walk to the beach, (approx 15-20mins walking). We found a good wine 'cave' (refill your water bottles on the way back!) and a biscuit maker along the beach road.
A large part of the site is given over to statics and there are some seasonal sited touring vans which did raise the noise level at weekends which seems to be the norm and in the high season think it can be expected that given the popularity of the area 'busy' will be an understatement.
Getting out and about, there are cycle and walking paths direct from the site which take you inland or direct to the beach and coastal cycle tracks. We were there in the 'heat wave' so only managed to get to Brem sur Mer and St Gilles Croix de Vie, the cycling along the coast was easy and mostly all away from traffic. There is a good cycle route leaflet that can be obtained from the Tourist Office.
We will definitely revisit the site and area again in the low seasons as it is somewhere where we can park the motorhome up for a week or two and enjoy the area.
