Note from owners:
In the night of July 14th to July 15th, 2021, a flood wave of horrific proportions hit us in Ahrweiler. The entire infrastructure collapsed. All bridges destroyed - our place, our side of the Ahr, was very difficult for us to reach. My house was full of tree trunks, mud and I couldn't save anything. The walls of the sanitary building were swept away by the masses of water. Due to the complete undermining, the building continued to collapse in the following days and then collapsed completely.
The site is now open for self-sufficient campervans and motorhomes. Caravans are not yet possible! Please understand that reservations cannot be accepted yet. Unfortunately, there is currently no sanitary building and no electricity . Provisional supply and disposal is possible. ut of course we are continuing to work hard on "camping for reconstruction".

This is a small site with 24 pitches, a small Motorhome area (pitches half the size of the normal pitches) and a separate camping field, alongside the river Ahr.
It is in an excellent location, about 2 minutes walk from the very attractive walled town of Ahrweiler with shops, cafes, restaurants etc (and free wifi in the town square!), the spa town of Bad Neuenahr about 3km away and only about 5 minutes drive from Junction 30 of the A61 motorway.
There are 2 rows of pitches, half (mainly used for caravans and larger motor homes when we were there) facing/backing onto the shallow river, the other half opposite. The pitches are marked but not divided and although quite close together by U. K. Standards, being on the river bank gives a feeling of extra space.
It was full most nights of our 5 night stay and so would recommend booking in advance, easily done via the website. The owner (Frau Schmidt) speaks very good English and has an amazing sense of humour!
Very clean, modern facilities (pay extra for showers) and 16amp electricity. Not the cheapest of sites (24 euros per night for unit +2 + electricity) and then there is in addition a town tax of €2, 50 per night or €2, 50 per person, per night.
If you choose the higher rate you get a GasteKarte which gives you free local bus and train travel, and discounts in some shops and attractions.
There are cycle tracks along the valley and we took our bikes to the end of the line (free)on the train, then cycled back through some stunning countryside. Another day we used our GasteKarte to travel by train to Remagen, on the Rhine. Koblenz is also easily accessible by road or rail.
This is a stunning area (and a great campsite) which we would happily revisit and recommend highly.
