We were sent an email a couple of days before our arrival with the code for the gate. We had booked a hardstanding pitch of which there are 2. Electricity was coin operated using £1 only.
In 5 nights we used £3. 92 that was for cooking with a Remoska, kettle, toaster, lights and pump. We chose to run the fridge, freezer and water heater on gas.
The pitch had a plastic lattice holding the pebbles in place and certainly made it a smooth surface. The grey waste was emptied over the fence into the wild meadow.
There are 5 grass pitches very well spaced apart all with the option of EHU. There is a toilet and shower room a short walk away and the shower is coin operated. Next to this is the laundry and information room, wifi is available in this room.
We walked down to the post office and general store passing under the amazing Chappel viaduct. As it was very hot, still early morning, we nipped into the Swan for a cuppa on the way back.
We also used the bus to go to Earls Colne to use the Co-op which was quite large.
Our main reason for visiting was to see my wife’s sister and she came across every day. A nice touch was there was no charge for them or their car coming onto the site. We did ask first.
We will certainly return and our compliments to Matt and Jenny for keeping a well organised site.

Excellent campsite - Very peaceful and nice walks nearby -
The fact it had a small field for our dog to run free in was a bonus.
Toilet & Shower always clean - didn't use the laundry room but also looked very good.
Electricity was by meter using £1 and £2 coins so take plenty with you, though it only cost us £18 for electricity for the whole 7 days.

Very we’ll kept site, clean with all facilities available,
A very quiet site with nice views, and local amenities close by,
The owners are very pleasant,
Well worth the 17pounds a night.

The site has two hard standing pitch’s and five grass pitches all with metered electricity (£1 ) for 18 units.
The grass is mainly level and well drained and kept nice and short.
The facilities are well maintained and adequate although due to the current crisis the games room ( pool table and table football) were closed.
The owners Matt and Jenny are friendly.
Overall a lovely little campsite well worth the stay. I for one will be back to stay here in the not to distant future

Excellent site, friendly lady owner took time to explain where all the facilities were.
They've got a static caravan set up as a games room with snooker and football tables, a separate room with plenty of reading material.
Another room for washing up and laundry and local information maps and leaflets, and there's a shower room.
Will definitely return

Have visited this CL a couple of times before in our motorhome but this time we have come in our caravan. Nice little cl with a couple of toilets and a shower, washing and washing up facilities.
Nice and peaceful just to sit and relax or as we did visit relatives.
Try this site you will not be disappointed. We paid £15 a night Plus metered electricity at about £1. 20 a night. Really good value.

Well sorted, neat & tidy country site. 2 hard standings by the entrance and 5 generous pitches on the level field. 16A metered hook-ups.
Toilet and shower (£1 for 10 mins. ), also laundry & information. Short walk to bus stop on main road. No pavement, but not much traffic.
Bus to Colchester or Halstead every 30 mins. 15 min walk to Swan pub, good, reasonably priced food, dog and child friendly.
Wardens are lovely, would happily come here again.

This was our second visit to this lovely CL as it is very convenient to where our daughter lives. Very clean and tidy on both of our visits. There are two hard standings as well as grass pitches and all are very well spaced.
There is a small toilet and shower (coin operated) and a laundry room with free Wi-Fi in the latter.
Nice quiet site but only 5 minute walk from bus route serving Braintree to Colchester and villages in between, whilst a slow walk of about 10 to 15 minutes passing under the amazing Chappel Viaduct brings you to a really nice pub/restaurant in the village of Chappel called The Swan which serves a very nice selection of food. Also nearby is a small post office and well stocked grocery shop which is well worth a visit.
We would like to thank the friendly owners Matt and Jenny for making us feel welcome and we will certainly be visiting again.
