 We stayed here for 8 nights, we choose the area as we wanted to Kayak down through the Ardeche.
It must be stated there are many campsites in this area either with Direct access to the river or not as the case may be. We choose this campsite, simply because it was one of the many that had access to the river, and was close to the town of Vallon Pont D'Arc (12 min Walk to the centre).
We were very happy with our choice of site, we had pitch 1 which was next to the gate which gave us access to the river. This Gate is locked between 8pm and 8am, so we felt quite secure.
The Pitch was Flat, and Quite large, with some shade, which was welcome. We got our Vango Euphoria and to Pup tents on the pitch for the Children.
Toilet and shower blocks were Clean and plenty of them, and the washing up area was adequate, but as that was the children's job, I personally did not use them. The wife Observed that the the washing machines were not particularly large.
There was a good Childrens play area, petanque area, and a Barbecue, area all of which was well used. There is no Swiming pool, however with a beach, which is supervised during peak times, I do not feel there was need for this, as the swiming in the river was good.
There was a Bar and Restaurant, which we used for drinking, but not for eating in though. There was entertainment put on, but we did not particpate in this though. The Walk into town, is largely Flat, with a minimal gradient, and the town is a delightful both in the day and the evenings.
The Adjacent Campsite had a Small shop for any provisions required, however there was a Lidl and Intermarche very near by.
As we had our own kayaks, we did not need to hire these from one of the many companies which operate, simply collection from Suaze plage at the end of the Gorge. The Campsite arrange this for us, at a nominal cost, and we were very grateful for this.
There is a Free shuttle bus, which goes into the town, and down as far as the Pont D'arc itself through out the day. We used this when we completed the Shorter Kayak trip to the Arc, where I then got the bus back to collect car and returned to pick up the Kayaks.
I would choose to stay here again.
