 For tent campers, a totally back to basics site in a lovely meadow setting very close to Robertsbridge. We stayed 3 nights.
Rough grass, a pitch-where-you-like meadow, bounded by a stream and trees. Very quiet. The weekend we were there the glamping yurts over the other side of the meadow were used but only two other tent campers.
Facilities: basic. Two pairs of good composting toilets, a couple of outside taps, that's it! A sink / washing up sink would be good. The area round the tap got very muddy. It would be tricky if the site was very busy.
The Reception is a tent, where you can buy wheelbarrows of logs (a full wheelbarrow for £10 lasted us 3 nights cooking over our fire and sitting out til late). Fires allowed in fire pits - take your own or hire.
No traffic noise - a long way form the main road, and up a a track. No light pollution - it was a good place to observe the meteor showers. Totally peaceful.
Convenience store in Robertsbridge a few minutes away, or more shopping in Battle.
A great location for visiting Bodiam Castle, Bedgebury Pinetum, Scotney Castle, Battle / Battle Abbey, kayaking on the Rother, lots of lovely things to do nearby.
Tricky to find - your satnav will take you to a lovely farm shop on the main road. The farm shop is great, stock up, but you should have turned off further back. Turn off towards Roberstbridge, and then L down a track marked to a nursing home - best get detailed directions from the campsite before you arrive!
There is the brilliant Johns Cross Camping and Motorhome shop down the road, where they sell every possible widget and gadget. I was pleased to get some spare rain cowls and Kling-ons for my new tent and tarp.
