A very well kept site in an excellent location at the top of a fjord and next to a village. We had not booked but phoned ahead to check they had a free pitch and I think as long as you arrive by 4pm you are likely to get a pitch. We stayed for 3 nights and loved the views and walking from the site. The weather was lovely while we were there and it was light till around 11pm. However, when we got chatting to a Norwegian man who frequently goes there, he told us that in another month the site gets no sun because it cannot rise over the mountain (so by the end of August).

There are two toilet blocks, one with a washing up area and the other with washing machines and dryers - tokens from reception. It is all very well maintained and a high standard of cleanliness.

As well as a supermarket, the village (6 mins walk) has gift shops, coffee shops, fruit and veg stall, hotel and some lovely old houses and a wooden church. There is also a tourist information office which also sells local products: fruit, bread, jams etc.

We really enjoyed the site and the village.

We visited this site whilst on a tour of Norway in our 7 metre Motorhome. To reach it we travelled through the longest tunnel in the world. The site is on the Sognefjord, the mountains are awesome. This site can be pre-booked online and I am glad we did as it was full when we arrived, Laerdal is a popular tourist area. It's a popular stop for accompanied Motorhome and caravan tours especially those from Holland. The pitches are numbered but it is a bit of a free for all. Electricity hookup points are not immediately visible. There are 2 toilet blocks with washing up areas, cooking areas and washing machines as well as the usual showers and toilets. A shower token costs 5 NOK. The facilities are very clean as with all in Norway.

We stayed here for 5 nights, we cycled into Laerdal although it's an easy walk. The town is lovely and has 2 fairly big supermarkets. There is a cafe on site but we ate there 1 night and it was not good and expensive as things are in Norway. We managed to have our awning out but most outfits only stay overnight and then move on. There were many tents too and there are cabins for rent, the Norwegian use these over the weekends it would seem. There is a lot of 'coming and going' each day. We used camping cheques to pay which was a much cheaper option than paying full price, these can be used in June but not in high season. There is bicycle, go-kart and boat rental from the site. The scenery is truly spectacular. The weather was mixed and reasonably warm (fleeces needed). In June the sun stays out until past 11 at night which is lovely. This is well worth a visit and a good base for seeing other places such as Flam.
