Ssssh. Dont tell everyone but this site is fabulous. We spent 2 nights here as a stop off on our way home last week. Peaceful, and spacious hardstanding pitches.
We didn't experience any disturbance from any building work mentioned by the previous reviewer. I don't recall seeing any and certainly didn't hear any.
The shower and loo block is probably one of the best we have experienced.
The staff/owners were very friendly and helpful.
Our grandsons loved seeing the fish in the wildlife pond and little toad that visited us. No play equipment for them but we weren't looking for that or expecting it as the boys are happy entertaining themselves.
We would definitely go again.

We booked the site on a recommendation from a friend and having viewed the website it states that the site is tranquil and relaxing.
This is where it all goes wrong, what isn’t mentioned is that the site has a building site in the adjacent field where around 90 houses are being built. The work starts at 7:30 in the morning and continues throughout the day. This work started back in the Autumn of last year and will continue for another 16+ months. This means in is virtually impossible to sit outside your van and enjoy what would indeed be a super site.
We did raise the issue with the owners about the lack of notification that the work was taking place. Sadly the owner doesn’t feel that they needs to let customers know of the work taking place.
By way of compensation they offered to wave the £4:20 electricity charge for the 3 day stay the rest of the response was pretty bland. I am not asking for any compensation, but feel that customers should be informed of the increased noise level so that they are aware before committing to stay.
The site and facilities are very good, it’s just the transparency that is missing.

A beautiful well kept site with friendly welcoming owners. Good sized fully serviced pitches with hardstanding that is invaluable this time of year. Free WiFi that actually works.
Immaculate toilet and shower facilities. Electricity is via a card and meter so you only pay for what you use.
The site is situated behind a garden centre and restaurant and entry is via the private driveway and car park. This can be a bit of a problem when it's busy, especially if you have a large unit.
There is a camping area for tents which looked well kept and dog walks available directly from the site.
Walking distance to Melton Mowbray town and a bus stop close by.
We will definitely revisit.

Excellent site! We loved our stay here, a beautiful site, very quiet with well maintained grounds.
The toilet and shower block are excellent, very clean and warm, the shower was powerful, hot and didn’t turn off after 30 seconds!
You pay for electricity but they offer a refund on unused credit. Cheese scones at the cafe were delicious.
The owners/warden were very friendly and welcoming.
Gates are closed at 5pm but you are given a code to get in and out.
If ever we come back to the area we’ll definitely stay here again.

A very pleasant site, lovely and quiet plenty of places to visit, very large pitches with gravel hard standing and grass to the side.
We had extremely hot weather while we were there so didn’t travel to far.
An added bonus was the Mountain restaurant and cafe at front of the site the CL is right at the back delicious food.
Unfortunately they are extending the site so will no longer be a CL. But with the addition of toilets and showers may be better choice for some.
All in all we had a great holiday.

Just had 5 nights there last week. The entrance is now signed. There are two drives take the one on the right. It is narrow but not very long and there are passing places.
Pull up in the car park and go to the garden centre reception to book in. Here you will be given an information pack with the gate code. Be aware it is a tumbler lock so in the dark the numbers are difficult to see.
The field with the 5 cl pitches is now being extended by another 15 pitches. The owner is in talks with the CAMC to retain the 5 cl pitches which are at the top.
The pitches a very large and divided by high hedges for privacy. The field, being enclosed, is well sheltered and a nice touch is that there is a pathway to a side entrance of the garden centre restaurant.
Toilets are available here during opening hours. The big plus for this site is its location.
Just outside the entrance there are buses to Melton Mowbray, 2 miles downhill, Leicester, Loughborough also to Grantham and Oakham with a change in Melton. So it is ideal for the local towns without taking the car.
All in all we enjoyed the site very much and hope it retains its cl status.

On arrival the location was a little confusing. So do not follow sat nav to J&L camp site, go to the garden centre.
Nice friendly staff,
Lovely camp site, can use toilet in garden centre.
The restaurant food smells amazing, especially at breakfast time.
Found some lovely cycling areas, bit hilly but worth it.
Overall had a nice chilled time, and would return. 👍👍

The camp site is very well maintained and each large bay is separated by bushes making it very private.
The only downside was the chain with the padlock. Each of the three gates were locked when we arrived at 6pm.
We went out to see friends later and trying to see the numbers on the padlocks in the dark was extremely difficult.
One gate to the actual site was always locked whilst the other two were open during the opening times of the garden centre.
As there were road traffic delays with a serious accident we had to telephone to advise that we would not be able to arrive before 5. 00pm. We were then emailed with the codes for the three gates.
There is one drinking water tap and chemical waste disposal and refuse bins.

Loved the location. Bus stopped at gate. Nice walk to the beach.
Didn't like there was nowhere for us to empty grey waste water in our motor home.
The site could have done with a few more facilities like that dotted around
