This camping is a great option to stay very close to city of Groningen. The staff is very kind. Facilities are very clean and tidy.
Only thing I would suggest is adding a place to have a proper wood/charcoal bbq that is safe for the environment but doable if at the camping.
The place is very peaceful and quiet. Bicycles are quite expensive to rent compared to other places yet convenient for when you first arrive. If you travel with small kids there's not much to entertain them (like playground or the sort)
A mini grocery shop would be a plus.
I would say it's a great place to stay for a pleasant camping experience but still conveniently located from the city town. Thank you!

Nice site in the city park. Very convenient for centre of town. Sandy, flat ground with mature trees and water/ponds. Close to road so some noise at times. Right on the knot system for cycling.
Somewhat basic facilities e. G. No shop and the cafe was closed during our visit, no campers shelter. No loo roll or soap was slightly irritating (maybe to deter random people who are in the park??). No charges for showers though.
Lots of ducks visiting the tent and also insects due to water all around the site. Had to leave vehicle parked on firm ground as apparently they can get stuck.
We'd go back.

A large level site set in the S. West corner of an extensive and well kept park. Helpful wardens and fluent English spoken. Bicycles are available for hire.
There is a mixture of hardstanding pitches for motorhomes and grass pitches for tents and caravans. These can be soft in wet weather. (Cars are parked separately in parking bays). Toilets and free shower facilities are clean and spacious.
It is a moderate, but level and pleasant walk or ride into town. The only problem you invariably encounter is cyclists - hundreds of them.
Groningen is a university town, so is always bustling with students and the ubiquitous bicycle. Plenty of shops, great cafes and bars, and a large food market on Fridays, but if you don't want to venture into town, there is a restaurant on site serving a range of dishes. (only weekends in low season).
It was a very pleasant stay and we really enjoyed the city. Looking forward to returning another year.
