 Dorsten, north of Essen in the West of Germany is perhaps not the obvious place for a vacation, but it is a pleasant small city and good for a short break.
Reisemobilhafen An Der Lippe, is one of the thousands of motorhome parks in Germany. It is somewhat like a large level car park with generous marked pitches big enough for the largest vans. It is split into two roughly equal parts. In one, EHU is on a PAYG basis by a 50ct. Slot meter. On the other part, EHU costs 1€ for 8 hours, but is unmetered. Drinking water is available, again by slot meter, but it's as cheap to nip across the road to Lidl and buy bottled water.
The centre, with large supermarkets, cafes etc. Is barely 10 mins. Walk away, and adjacent to the site are pleasant walks along the river and canal.
Cost is 8€ per night incl. Free WiFi. Showers and toilets are available at the adjacent sports hall. The 'office' - actually a garden shed, is manned for an hour in the morning and late afternoon. Bread, croissants etc. For breakfast can be ordered there.
So, overall, a very good little stop over, and a great place to stock up. If I had a criticism, it is a little noisy at times, but quiet overnight. Cash only and no English spoken on site, but not a problem in town.
