 Erdeven is a beautiful commune, with a long protected coastline and beautiful family beaches (including a 'naturist' beach), and miles of dune and forest paths, most of which are cycle friendly. Quick disclosure here - until last year we had owned a small apartment in the town, so we were frequent visitors. The town has good local small shops (with artisan suppliers), a small summer daytime and evening market, and a supermarket, and a lot of 'animations' in the summer months. The beaches are a little way from the town, but easily reached by car/cycle. If you go in the July or August, don't miss the Festival of the Chapels - free concerts that take place in 6 of the 7 small restored chapels around the commune.
This campsite is on the main beach road (which is very busy in the summer months), so there inevitably is some road noise, close to cycle paths and walk able in to the small town centre. We stayed out of season, so fairly quiet as far as 'touring' units are concerned. Pitches are enclosed by hedges, so private, but not really geared up for larger Campervans or Motorhomes. Our van is 6m long and we only just managed, although not without some scraping by the hedges (not great for the van's polish!). The site has quite a lot of mobile homes (mostly owned), but prides itself on being quiet at night, and the residents are very friendly. Lovely swimming pool complex with both outdoor and indoor pools. Facilities are modern, but 'French style', toilet pans, no seats and no paper and as they are 'open' style can be a bit draughty in the wind!. Showers were good, but we felt that the cleaning (probably due to low numbers as weather was poor for the time of year) could have been more frequent. No Motorhome Service point (although to be fair that is made clear in the publicity), and the only water tap (by the service block) was push button type, but to be fair in the summer months you do need to be careful about drought (yes, even in Brittany) so understandable.
The management are very friendly, but mostly French spoken. Their FB page is showing some new developments (I think it is a new 'Salle d'Animation', but can't tell from the photos!
Good restaurants in the town, don't miss the Galileo, or the Voyager Hotel (where you can step back in time ). Good Tourist Office in the centre(English spoken). Lots of local suppliers - Organic bread, goats cheese, and Cow's milk cheeses too, and of course close to the Ria d'Etel and the Bay of Plouharnel for sea food suppliers.
